God.com rocks!,
By stu (Bend, Oregon) - See all my reviews
This review is from: God.com: Extreme Intimacy with an Interactive God (Hardcover)
Just read James Langteaux's excellent, excellent book, God.com. One of the best books I have ever read! It rocks! It's frank, honest, very witty, humorous, a bit irreverant and it speaks to the very generation we're ALL living in. (O.K. and I also got more than a little teary eyed reading it). God.com engages so well the disenfranchised, the disaffected, to those that maybe have grown up in a Christian home but never made the leap to their own faith. It also speaks to the millions who have grown up as products of divorce, who have longed to have a Father they could trust unflinchingly with their very lives. James Langteaux gets high marks for his very innovative style, prose, and layout of the book. He has done a bold thing with the release of God.com. I'm sure some won't get it and maybe others it will offend, but that's O.K. It's not intended for those who have arrived on their spiritual journey, or I should say who think they have arrived, but in reality have never left the station. James Langteaux has really broken some barriers with this call to a revolution to believe beyond what we can see; a call to extreme intimacy with a highly interactive God. It's clear from this book that God rocks James Langteaux and God.com will rock the world.

A Supernatural Father!,
By Ginger (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: God.com: Extreme Intimacy with an Interactive God (Hardcover)
First I want to address the gentleman's review from Boston. I,too, had never had God "speak" to me as James relates in God.com. But, on Dec. 8, l999, He spoke most clearly and supernaturally through His Word, and others to my mind and heart. In the months prior, I had been privileged to read a draft of God.com. I did not know the author at the time. As I read its pages, I was deeply touched at the transparency of the writer, his poetical phrasing, and more than that, the supernatural relationship he opened himself up to with our Heavenly Father. I wanted that, thinking it was only reserved for the "sacrifical Christian", the missionary, etc. I asked God for that relationship with Him for the first time in my 26 years as a believer. Little did I know He would answer so quickly, for on that Dec. 8, l999, my 27 year old son was diagnosed with brain cancer. God was there...in my face, His love overwhelmingly evident. He spoke to me in my mind and in my heart. He showed me who He was way before "what He was going to do." For six days He continued to unfold for me His supernatural life He wanted me to have from then on with Him. You see, Our Father, wants that for all His children, but we put Him in our box and see Him through our eyes. God.com challenges us to see, to believe, to hunger for that supernatural walk He so willingly wants to give us and anyone who seeks after Him. But, first we must let down the masks, lay our heart and soul bare before a Mighty God, before He can begin that supernatural work in us. Is God.com our Bible? No. But, it clearly calls us to live a more radical life, sold out to Him, through the Living Word of a Holy God! To the searcher, God.com makes a Holy God more real, more relational, without relinquishing who He is. He is just there calling you to a transformed life in Him; asking you to "believe" and He will take you from there with no looking back. I thank God daily for using James to write His words through James' life. It is ongoing for him. It is ongoing for us. Please join me and others as we walk with James and Our God through the pages of the supernatural walk He has planned for us. It is an absolute joy in spite of the circumstances! By the way, my son is fine...no secondary treatment, no cancer. And you know what----God also likes us to dance with Him. I'm learning that, too. The twirls and dips are amazing as He leads the way. Please buy God.com and encourage your friends to also. God will change your heart where only He can through it. God Bless. InI

A dialogue with GOD,
By Laurie (Dana Point, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: God.com: Extreme Intimacy with an Interactive God (Hardcover)
I loved this because it is a sincere attempt at portraying an intimate relationship with GOD. James is honest and transparent in telling us about his constant contact with GOD. He reveals so much about himself and his life and his sins. He also talks about GOD's grace and how he has been forgiven and he today is a willing instrument for GOD's purpose. His journey of surrender is inspiring. I love that he makes it clear that we all have the ability to pray and to listen and hear GOD's will for us. He shows us how to be in relationship with GOD. He teaches us how to pray! This book is a Post-modern blessing!

So Real,
By A Customer
This review is from: God.com: Extreme Intimacy with an Interactive God (Hardcover)
James Alexander Langteaux uses tech-based analogies along with scripture to describe how to connect with God and grow in a relationship with Him. Throughout the book he draws small portraits of himself by candidly sharing the struggles and pitfalls he faced on his spiritual journey. Infused with a steady flow of pop culture references, twisted metaphors and turns-of-phrase, God.com is a fiercely creative wake-up call for skeptics and believers to break down barriers which hinder an abundant life in God. I highly recommend this book. It's unlike any book I've read on Christian living and I look forward to more of his work.

Thank You!,
By Gordy R. (Jacksonville, FL. USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: God.com: Extreme Intimacy with an Interactive God (Hardcover)
"GOD, GIVE ME A BROKEN HEART IF THAT IS WHERE YOUR HEALING CAN START."Either that statement didn't register, or I missed it the first time, but as I read the book for the second time, this request caught my attention, and events in my own life over the past year finally began to acquire some semblance of order. I, also, have lost my lover. In my case, a loving wife of 28 years, the victim of a vicious illness this past April, leaving me a lonely, wrenched, miserable mess; a life turned upside down, by that single, ever-present question...WHY? My heart is most surely broken, and this is without a doubt the perfect place for God's healing to begin. However, that is not the reason I was re-reading this book. I had originally been blessed by the concept that our Father in heaven wishes to communicate His absolute Love directly to and with us, and when I read a review of the book with which I took exception, I was immediately offended, and was re-reading the book with the intention of getting all the points straight in my mind so I could fire off a stinging rebuttal. Do you see where I am going with this? I took exception.... I was offended....I intended to take up the torch and defend the author.....I was going to have MY say in the matter. Yet, the passage that hit me like a 2X4 across the head, was a nugget that I really needed in my own personal life....the interaction that the author wants us to experience in our own lives, that our all powerful, all knowing, ever present Father, through His son Jesus Christ, desperately wants to show His limitless love to us, and communicate with us, if only we will turn from our own petty sense of self importance, and hear what He will say to us. I believe God used that passage in this book to speak directly to me in my time of need. I'm not implying that I believe God speaks through the author, but that He can and will use any means whatsoever that are appropriate to our situation. God can also affect our own interpretation of something in order to provide personal significance. Thank you, "Pat R." for your opinion, because through that, God used my own misguided intentions to provide a personal blessing to me. I pray that you, also may come to experience His Love & Peace that surpasses understanding.

LANGTEAUX IGNITES A REVOLUTION WITH GOD.COM,
By Georgia Girl (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: God.com: Extreme Intimacy with an Interactive God (Hardcover)
Are you willing to create a revolution in your life and in your relationship with God that will turn your life upside down? James Langteaux has ventured out on a limb to a special place we all long to visit and ultimately reside, but few have the courage to take the risks that he has taken to get there. You must attempt this journey with James, but I must warn you that reading this book takes courage, honesty and an willingness to be open like never before. At times I felt that this controversial book was showing me things about myself I didn't want to see. I can understand how Adam and Eve wanted to hide and felt naked in the Garden of Eden.I felt God stripping away layers and layers making me extremely vunerable, but as I read on I felt that God through James's writing, was inspiring me to soar to unknown places and heights I'd been afraid to visit before! Please don't miss the book . . .take the risk to develop a deep intimate relationship with God. Living vicariously through his wonderful writings has brought me closer to the Creator and created an intimacy I never dreamed possible.I can't say enough about this thought provoking book. To give you an example, I knew someone who was searhcing that I believed needed to read this book. When I gave the person the book I learned that he had met James on an airplane and discussed the book.It was truly a divine appointment . . but the author is like that. He encounters divine appointments ever step. Langteaux breaks down any fascades. He takes off the mask and exhibits enormous courage in his quest to know God. The words of Janis Joplin's song, FREEDOM'S JUST ANOTHER WORD FOR NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE comes to mind because James risks it all with his brutally honest and refreshingly "realness" in a world known for its phoniness. In God.Com, James has allowed us to come "inside" to experience his incredible relationship with God without any distractions. He reminds us that we haven't mastered listening to God because,"We are afraid of the silence." Sometimes I felt as though I was reading a modern day Psalms because the dialogue had the familiar feel of David and his relationship with God. Langeaux's struggles with the Goliaths in his life that he relates in the book are surrendered through his total and absolute trust in the Father.James is walking in signs and wonders and I want to go there. James is a 21st Century David . . .imperfect, incredibly spiritual, honest and closer to God than you would think possible. The most exciting feature of God.Com is a book that I feel that give to young people and others who are searching but have put off by hypocrisy, judgemental individuals and holier than thou attitudes of Christians. No one could accuse this cutting edge book of any of those sins! James is hip, cool, very with it. The present generation will really relate to him. While James doesn't have all the answers (yet!) he shares what he has learned in his process of creating an intimacy with God. "I would much rather err on the side of belief than on the side of doubt." God.Com is life-changing! I didn't know that I was willing to make some of these changes until I read parts of the book. As the author tells us "I don't know the rest of the story, but I know the rest of HIS story! That's enough for him . . .and after reading this book it will be enough for you, too. It was more than enough for me!

Honest and Oh so true!,
By Grant A. Wood (Fayetteville, GA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: God.com: Extreme Intimacy with an Interactive God (Hardcover)
Oh how we all think that we can work and struggle to find God and do for HIM everything "we" can instead of letting HIM live through us. James you have captured all of my struggles to find GOD in your book, it's been like a "reformat and fresh install" of my relationship with my Heavenly FATHER! Being a techno junkie and someone who deals with adult ADHD, you have so struck a cord in my heart that I can't stop raving about GOD.COM to all I come into contact with. I know that an intimate encounter is all I need and want! AN ADD MOMENT! I lost just about everything because of my headlong fall into the dark world of sin and addiction but GOD rescued me from a fate that would most certainly have meant an end to this life for me! GOD.COM has been another book that has illuminated my way and helped me see that there are others who struggle and long for intimacy with GOD but don't find it until we hit the wall! LOG back on James and hit the keyboard, I can't wait for GOD.COM 2! GOD bless you my brother for being faithful and honest!

I wish we all knew this God,
By Chicago Mom "tracyxscott" (Chicago, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: God.com: Extreme Intimacy with an Interactive God (Hardcover)
James Langteaux's book God.com is one of the most honest and relevant books about searching for truth that I have ever read. I finished the book and had to write a review because James strips away all of the things that we think have to do with God and reveals God at His core - loving, intimate, accepting. God calls each of us on a journey and it's not one of rules, regulations, and judgement, but rather an exciting, interactive adventure that leads to a raw, authentic joy. I commend James on his honesty and vulnerability in sharing his own secrets. His openess is a tremendous example of how Christians are called to live. If we all could drop our masks and live the way James does through his book, just imagine how the world's perception of Jesus would change. . .

Losin' my RELIGION!,
By A Customer
This review is from: God.com: Extreme Intimacy with an Interactive God (Hardcover)
Yikes! Here's a book that will make you question all the religious trappings you own, think you own, or have hidden away in a mindcloset somewhere. Doesn't matter what you think of organized religion, here's a book that strips us clean - naked clean - down to a personal decision about a personal God. For people who've bounced around in the religious cyberspace of our day, this book leads you right up to the FIREWALL for a personal encounter with a God whom Langteaux (the author) reports actual live personal interactions with. He's incredibly believable. HE, is too.

This review is from: God.com: Extreme Intimacy with an Interactive God (Hardcover)
My copy of the book came with a yellow warning label. It is true. Avoid this book at all costs if are comfortable with a passive spiritual walk with God. James' honesty is shockingly fresh and his writing will hit the right chord in your heart. This is not the typical book for Multnomah Press to publish, but I BELIEVE it may be one of the most important.Thank you, James. |
