5.0 out of 5 stars This book changed my life...
This book really did change my life. I love the way it was written, and with no real dogma attached to any of the Goddesses mentioned. Each chapter is devoted to a different Goddess, and you even learn a bit about different religions with each one. With each chapter, you realize that with each Goddess you connect with, you are actually learning how to connect with that...

1.0 out of 5 stars what a waste!
This book is NOTHING what you'd expect. I was expecting a review of different Goddesses, some background, how they were worshiped, etc.
This book is just such a painful read! I had a difficult time staying interested enough to finish the first chapter!

This book really did change my life. I love the way it was written, and with no real dogma attached to any of the Goddesses mentioned. Each chapter is devoted to a different Goddess, and you even learn a bit about different religions with each one. With each chapter, you realize that with each Goddess you connect with, you are actually learning how to connect with that piece of divinity within yourself, and you draw strength and power from that. It isn't feminism, it isn't Wicca; it is showing you how to find yourself, truly. The many faces of women, divine women. It almost has a Hindu aspect to it; the way they worship the divine - no matter how many gods or goddesses they worship, they are still worshipping one higher power. They describe it as many facets of the same diamond. This book is easy to read and follow, wonderfully written, and helps you discover strengths you never knew you had. Go girl!

5.0 out of 5 stars Empowering!, January 8, 2003

Brockway's book has something for everyone. I am impressed with her inclusion of Catholic and Christian goddesses such as St. Brighid, Mary and St. Terese as well as Mary Magdalene. She is knowledgeable in mythology and the suggested rituals are simple, inspiring, reflective and empowering. Even more impressive is the way the author lists resources where the reader can obtain suggested items at the end of the chapters instead of in a separate section. An absolute must-read for anyone with a connection to the Goddess and a motivation to grow personally and spiritually.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ms. Brockway is a girl's best friend - and a man's!, June 10, 2003
This review is from: A Goddess is a Girl's Best Friend (Paperback)
I recommend this book to any woman who wants to learn about the Divine Feminine. A Goddess Is a Girl's Best Friend: A Divine Guide to Finding Love, Success, and Happiness gives a solid run down of the Goddesses. Each section provides wonderful exercises, meditations and resources, etc. to further explore the power of the Goddess you have just read about. Give this book to your daughters, sister, best friend - your mother! Heck buy multiple copies for the men in your life, because when you start feeling your Goddess power they will want to know about it too.

Whether you are 13 or 30 or 99, this book offers practical wisdom on how to manifest the Goddess in your life and for every occassion. Full of rich and glorious detail about the background of dozens of Goddesses, this book provides the simple steps needed to begin asking the Goddess to help you in manifesting more love, more money, better health and peace of mind. The easy to read format makes it a particularly attractive book. I think this book has the rare combinaton of being both HIP and HOLY.

I have read many of Laurie Sue Brockway's books and articles over the years. She has never disapointed me. I find her informative, compassionate, understanding, intelligent, and always knowledgable about the topics and subjects that she writes about. I have heard her speak about her books and some of her lifes experiences and have always found her to be fascinating and thoroughly interesting. I look forward to her next book or article. R.K.R.

4.0 out of 5 stars An empowering read for women, December 20, 2007
By
Instead of embracing female divinity from a certain dogma, the author explains goddesses in a way for anyone to understand. Anyone will feel comfortable and at home reading this book. Along with each goddess, the read is given ways to connect to the chosen goddess and how to honor her and keep her with you daily.

If you are looking to balance your life with goddess energy, and want to transform your life, then this book is for you. But you don't have to walk the path alone, included in this book are rituals to include your other female friends as well.
