Two teens discover the secret to their mysterious powers.,
This review is from: Goddess of the Night (Daughters of the Moon 1) (Hardcover)
Vanessa and her best friend, Catty, appear to be just two normal teenage girls. But the Los Angeles high school students both have mysterious supernatural powers that set them apart from others. Vanessa has the ability to become invisible, and Catty can travel through time. They have known about these powers since they were little girls, but they have kept them hidden from everyone but each other. But now Catty has dissapeared. If Vanessa wants to save her friend, she's going to have to trust two other girls who say they are like her and Catty, as well as a mysterious woman who claims Vanessa is a goddess. I really enjoyed this book. I can't wait to read future titles in the series. I would reccomend it to teens who like fantasy, but not to anyone younger than twelve or thirteen.

Vanessa.... Goddess?,
By "artzeechic" (Dream World) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Goddess of the Night (Daughters of the Moon 1) (Hardcover)
Vanessa Cleveland wants a normal teenager's life. The only problem is getting there- and that means NOT turning invisible. Vanessa has the power of turning invisible and she soon learns that she is a goddess, along with her friends, Catty, Jimena, and Serena. They each have their own powers that can help win their battle against the evil Atrox. Besides trying to save people's hope, they also try to win the luv of people that have stolen their hearts. Will good prevail, or will evil take over their sanity? This book was excellent! The plot was thrilling, and the characters were well described. Ms. Ewing does a wonderful job of describing the outfits and scenery in the story, and her imagination is great! For those of you who are looking for a magical adventure that is very realistic, you should definitely read: Goddess of the Night.

An Awesome Book,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Goddess of the Night (Daughters of the Moon 1) (Hardcover)
Vanessa, Catty, Serena, and Jimena are four girls with special powers. Vanessa can expand her molecules and become invisible at will, Catty can travel through time, Serena can read minds, and Jimena has premonitions (visions about the future.) Only together can they defeat the Atrox, a group of people whose goal is to bring hatred and darkness to the earth. When Catty goes missing, Vanessa fears it is too late. Has she gotten lost in time, or does the Atrox have her?THe book, Goddess of the Night, by Lynne Ewing, is an outstanding novel, especially for those who like fantasy. However, I recommend it for all people. It is a delightful book with plenty of suspense to keep you reading all night. The descriptions are so detailed, you almost think you are there! THis book takes you on a magical journey filled with surprise and much more. If you want a fantastic book, Goddess of the Night is the right choice.

Pricey, but excellent!,

This review is from: Goddess of the Night (Daughters of the Moon 1) (Hardcover)
Goddess of the Night is the first novel in the Daughters of the Moon series, a series that promises to be long. Each book is told from the viewpoint of one of the four (eventually five) Daughters, as well as another character, Stanton. While after reading this one, you're going to want to read the rest, Godddess of the Night has a beginning, middle, and end. It doesn't leave you hanging at the end. It's an excellent book. Vanessa, the viewpoint character for this particular one, is my personal favorite of the Daughters. All of the girls are "cool" and easy to identify with. She is a teenager in LA who thinks she's a space alien because of her supernatural (but not superhero-y) power to turn invisible. It becomes quite a problem in her daily life. She and her best friend, and two other girls, have this ability, and they fight the forces of evil. The name Daughters of the Moon sounded kind of cult-ish to me, but they it gets explained later, and is perfect! The story is a very cool, modern fantasy, targetted at the teenage girl. This book is very short, and takes about a day to read. It's not the best in the series, but it's still worth reading -- and you have to read it to understand the others. Nine stars out of ten. I'd recommend reading it from the library, though...it's quite expensive.

Vannessa of the Moon,
By Rhys (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Goddess of the Night (Daughters of the Moon 1) (Hardcover)
This is the first book in a series of books dealing with the lives and challenges of four seemingly-normal teenage girls. At first glance you probably wouldnt notice anything peculiar about Vanessa, Catty, Serena, or Jimena. You would never guess the important roles they play in the lives of everyone living. These girls are the Daughters of the Moon. The mortal children of the moon goddess Selene sent down to earth to fight the forces of darkness, the Atrox. Each girl posses a gift. Serena can read minds, Vanessa can become invisivle at will, Jimena can see into the future, and Catty can travel through time. Each girl is unique and the girls must stay together to succeed in fighting the Atrox. Catty goes missing. Vanessa cant believe that her best friend since childhoodhad was gone. Had omething gone wrong in time travel? or had the Atrox found her....

This series is a whirlwind of magic, mystory, romance, and suspense. It's hard not to fall in love with these characters. In "Goddess Of The Night", we come into Vanessa's life, an average teenager with one huge secret-she can become invisible. It's made her life a hassle, but she has her best friend of all time, Catty there with her. Catty can time travel, and the two often wonder about their supernatural powers. But then, one night, Vanessa is walking home from a dance club, when she hears somebody following her. She doesn't know who, but she knows why. And now she's about to be trust into a world more dangerous than ever. These books are all about the Daughters Of The Moon, and I highly suggest it. But what do I know? I'm only fourteen. If you don't belive me, read them yourself!

The Greatest Book that I've read in a long time...,
By Brittany (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Goddess of the Night (Daughters of the Moon 1) (Hardcover)
I loved it. The Characters are exceptionally introduced in this first eddition of this series. Vanesa has had powers that she didn't understand, for her whole life. So has her best friend, Catty. Vanessa has the power to expand her molecules and become invisible. Catty's power is even weirder, she can time travel. They both meet up with two other girls that have the same necklace that they have had since they were young. These two are Jimena, who has premonitions, and Serena, who can read peoples minds. The necklaces that they wear are very significant in the story, for they have had them since they were born. They all find out that they are Goddesses and that their powers must be used to defeat the Atrox.

Daughters of... Success?,
By Cristi (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Goddess of the Night (Daughters of the Moon 1) (Hardcover)
The Daughter's of the moon has become the light of my life, seriously. I, personally am not the biggest reader in the world, so when me and my mom went to Walden books I had that famous teenage 'get me outta here' attitude. So you can imagine how I was when my mother suggested me actually getting a book to READ. Personally to me, books were paper weights, or coasters for late night coffees during last minute homework runs. A book, would never consume my time... EVER. "Get a book" my mother said, well... She said she'd pay for it... And I needed another coaster anyway... So I figured... Why not? So I reluctantly made my way to the entire ONE shelf of young adult books and sat on the stool in front of the books figuring if she saw me there she'd figure I was actually looking for a book. My plan worked until a black book with a neon pink number one on it's binding popped out at me. Again my mother's insane words rang through my ears "Get a book". I pulled the book by it's binding and it fell into my lap. I examined the cover, it was an amazing photo on the cover so I opened it... What the heck? Ya'know? I had no clue how addicted I would become to the book. My mom told me to get a book... So I figured this one was as good as any. I got home, and I opened the book.... And I was instantly hooked. Ewing... Amazed me with her description of what seemed like a normal teenage life with a twist here and there. The character's for the most part reminded me of myself and the passions they shared were the same as my own. I simply couldn't put it down, I walked through the hallways of my school reading it, read it any free chance I had during class... And by the end of the day I was hooked. I got the second one. I'm only half way through it, and I came on this to look for the third and fourth (I'm estatic they have them) and I'm getting them ASAP. I read a review written by a 10 year old... Well I'm a 10th Grader! So it must say something, the vocab isn't extensive, but it's not the easiest... I've gotten my friends to like the series as well, so it's the new insanity amoung my friends talking about what couple we like best... And such things. I tip my hat to Ms. Ewing, an amazing auther. And I look forward to the rest of the series.

magical and unique,

This review is from: Goddess of the Night (Daughters of the Moon 1) (Hardcover)
This was a really fun read. Vanessa is a amiable and strong main character, who has a secret she hasn't even told her mother. She has the power to become invisible, but all she wants to be is the normal teenager she appears to be. But when she is being followed, and her best friend dissappears, she learns the truth about herself. She is a godess, who must fight evil and return people's lost hope. I'm looking forward to reading more books in the series, and I'm going to recommend it to my friends who like to read books that are unique and magical

The Goddess Of The Night Book Review By: Lauren Kaufman,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Goddess of the Night (Daughters of the Moon 1) (Hardcover)
I loved this book, it was filled with lots of excitment, for example it was very exciting the night when Vannessa felt like someone was following her. Also when she and Catty went back in time to see\find out who was following her, that also when they went back Vannessa heard a voice say I'll get you when you are alone. This was also filled with lot's of love. For example Vannessa's mom always made sure that she was home at her curfew or before, this is love because if her mom didn't love she would not care that she was home at 10:00 pm. Another example is that Vannessa had gone to meet Saton at the dark of the night to save Catty after Maggie had told not to. This was a great book and i can't wait to read the rest.
