5.0 out of 5 stars Ancient Belief Systems, December 30, 2003
This review is from: Goddess Rising (Paperback)
Melissa Bowersock's "Goddess Rising" speaks to the belly of your belief systems. After studying comparative religions for twenty years, this is one of the few books I've read that takes the inner qualities that created beliefs and puts it in a format that is not only entertaining but educational. It gives the reader a look at how it all may have started in a story format that you simply cannot put down!

5.0 out of 5 stars A story that expands your view of life, April 29, 2003

Greer could be anyone of us and it is so easy to relate to her as she struggles with issues of fear, sexuality, love and compassion in order to raise to greatness. It is rare to encounter a book that can have a lasting impact as Goddess Rising. This story will definitely expand your view of life. Read it once and read it again after a few months. You will notice new insights each and every time you read Greer's story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mythical and Inviting!, March 5, 2006

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The Hero's Journey was evident throughout the book from the initial refusal of the call to the facing of enemies, discovering our allies, the return with the treasure, and the final difficulty of living in two worlds. Joseph Campbell would be proud! The crafting of Greer's act of surrender, of being true to one's purpose in life, regardless of personal desires and outcome, exemplified the struggle we each go through in order to be true to ourselves and our Soul Path. Brava!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absorbing and Inspirational, January 11, 2006
This review is from: Goddess Rising (Paperback)
From the very first page, the story was interesting, absorbing and different. There was no way to predict where the story would go as each chapter revealed a new layer, ever expanding the story and its message. The characters were beautifully and deeply introduced and I felt a strong bond with each of them. I immensely enjoyed this read. It is a difficult book to categorize and I began reading it with no notion of what it was about or where it would go. No matter---I enjoyed the trip, every page of it! I find myself thinking about it and the feelings I had while reading it. The characters and the whole experience of reading it has stayed with me these past two months since I finished it. I will read it again and again over the months and years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enlightening and Inspired, December 2, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Goddess Rising (Paperback)
I bought this book because I was inspired to do so after reading the other reviews on this site, and I must say that I am immensely grateful to them for recommending it so.
Goddess Rising is one of those rare books that not only provides the reader with a good story, but also brings greater understanding and a level of higher-consciousness to ones own self and soul purpose. As I was reading this book I found myself connecting with Greer on a multi-tude of levels and found her story to be my story, as well as every other womans story who finds herself standing at the edge of a path leading towards awakening. Greer is truly Everywoman.
The deeper I got into the book the harder it became for me to discern the past from the future. But then as Sir Arthur Wing Pinero stated; "I believe the future is only the past again, entered through another gate"
This book is definately worth the read, and I would invite anyone who does, and has questions remaining as I surely do, to write me, as I am more than willing to engage in a discussion about this work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Goddess Rising Rises To & Exceeds Expectations, January 22, 2002

Rising indeed. I read a little, set it aside, read some more, set it aside. When I picked it up again, I could not put it down. The story is timeless; it could be then, could be now, could be someday. The Goddess in each of us (woman and man) is worth finding/honouring and this tale exemplifies the journey.

Rising touched chords within and got me thinking about many things. I didn't expect so much! Even if it hadn't augmented my personal journey, I'd enjoy it for the action, detailed geology, the challenges, (s)heroism, the inclusive cast of characters, and the respectful handling of life in general. Have a sit, read Goddess Rising, those who do are again blessed.

5.0 out of 5 stars NOT JUST A GOOD READ, January 26, 2002
By A Customer

I've never read a book like it. It's fantastic. I can
see why the author cried when she finished it.
Goddess Rising is an experience,
not just a story.
