Original Perspective On Chinese Astrology and Goddesses,
This review is from: Goddess Signs: Which One Are You? (Paperback)
Goddess Signs - Which One Are You?
"The wonderful secrets of your animal sign can help you to realize your true potential and develop more understanding of your fellow human beings. Your Goddess Sign will give you an even deeper knowledge of your spiritual purpose and your karma (or your own soul's pathway), while at the same time revealing fascinating insights into your relationships." --Author Angelica Danton Like most people, I've been fascinated by systems designed to tell me more about myself: Why am I here? Why do I do the things I do? Am I unique...or are there others similar to me? In her brand new book Goddess Signs: Which One Are You?, author and professional astrologer Angelica Danton gives an original perspective on the link between Chinese astrology and goddess spirituality. Based on decades of research, she realized there was a fascinating correlation between the 12 animal signs of the Chinese Zodiac and the characteristics of ancient goddesses. Despite my fascination with new astrological and personality systems, I was skeptical about this book only because my Chinese animal sign (Dog) never seemed to fit me. I would go to Chinese restaurants, see the Chinese Zodiac on the paper placemat and think "Ugh. That is so not me!" So when I read the beginning of this book and saw that there were five goddess types (Moon, Sun, Earth, Warrior, and Dark Goddess) I thought I'll look up my birthday on the chart, and if I'm not a Moon Goddess, I'm not reading any further...especially if I'm supposedly an Earth Goddess! (Hey, I'm not going to spend my time reading a book that doesn't even fit me...let alone write a review on it!) Somehow, I intuitively felt that I was a Moon Goddess. In fact, when I read another book several months ago that described several Goddesses, I felt an immediate connection to Selene (a Moon Goddess.) So I took a gander at the chart in the book, and I was, in fact, a Moon Goddess Sign! If that author got that right (I thought), maybe I'll finally get some insight on what it means to be a Dog! And sure enough, I did. More on that later, though... The introduction to this book has a brief description of the 5 Goddess types, including examples of famous women that personify a type and their patron goddesses. Here's the breakdown of Goddess types and Chinese animals: Moon Goddess Women Goat, Dog, Cat Sun Goddess Women Dragon and Rooster Earth Goddess Pig and Ox Warrior Goddess Tiger and Horse Dark Goddess Rat, Monkey, Snake Each of the 12 animal signs are given a thorough overview detailing the following areas of each type: *Love *Health *Finances *As a child *Career *Life in the 21st century *Spirituality *Ritual work I have to say that 80% of the descriptions for my type fit me. The only parts that didn't fit were financial (I'm a spender...not a saver!), and some of the relationship elements. But now I understand where the "loyalty" fits in: that trait of the Dog always threw me for a loop, because I never considered myself particularly loyal. (You have to be trusting for that, and while I assume good intentions with others, I keep people at an emotional distance.) She explains that Dogs are loyal to their chosen family, which makes perfect sense to me. She even filled in the blanks about the emotional detachment, especially as a Metal Dog. (Metals are intellectuals and usually have the ability to detach well.) The author also gives an overview of the other elements: Wood, Earth, Water, Fire. As you can see, there are layers of complexity that you can use to get greater insight into your animal/goddess Sign. For each Chinese animal sign, the author lists other correlations including Tarot card, Moon phase, celestial bodies, colors, crystals and gems, incense, herbs/plants, and more. Associated goddesses are described in greater depth, and numerological correlations are also listed. (For example, you reduce your birth number, and compare it to a chart.) If that's not enough, you also get a list of about 20 Positive Traits for each type, and 20 Negative Traits. Again, I found this to be very accurate. Finally, there is a compatability chart for each sign, rituals and tools, and a meditation unique to that sign's spiritual growth. For example, the meditation for Dog Women are for new friends. At 265 pages, this book is chock-full of helpful information. And men, you're not left out, either! There is a section devoted to God Signs of men, including famous contemporary examples ncluding the likes of Keanu Reeves, Tobey Maguire, Johnny Depp, J.R.R. Tolkien, Peter Jackson, Bono, and more!) There is even a paragraph devoted for each of the possible combination of Goddess and God signs. One thing that I am confused about, however: it's my understanding that there is a Rabbit and Sheep in the Chinese Zodiac. I've never heard of a Goat or Cat in Chinese astrology. Judging from the birthdate chart, it seems that Rabbit correlates with Cat, and Sheep correlates with Goat in Danton's system. What I like most about this book is that it provides an original combination of Chinese animal sign and Goddess archetypes...something I've not seen before. A good deal of the information in the book was new to me, and I'm always delighted to stumble upon unfamiliar ideas--especially if the information is practical. You'll certainly learn more about yourself with this book, as well as how your animal sisters see the world.

I just got this book and I highly recommend it .I agree with Janet Boyers review .It is very original in the new type of astrology it uses .Already , my friends are asking me where I got it .Actually been given a copy from an American friend. I love reading about anything to do with karma and spirituality and this is covered in the book too .I found the meditations and the rituals to be a lot of fun for eg I am a Warrior Goddess and I feel that I relate personally to that energy already I think its outstanding because it rings true and empowers women to believe in themselves!

I found Goddess Signs to be a wonderfully accurate and helpful book.A friend knows I love this books on astrology and the goddess and thought this one was great .I loved reading the relationship sections which I found very accurate and interesting !I have travelled to Asia and the Cat is used in Vietnam in astrology instead of the Rabbit .Also in some cultures the Sheep is seen as the Goat .Recommend it for a good read!

Go Goddesses,

I have been reading chinese astrology for a long time because I find it interesting and usually very helpful to understanding people .A lot of people get confused by it because it is really based on the lunar year not your month of birth .I am born under the sign of the snake in may 1977 but my sister is born under the pig in 1971 but on the last day in the lunar calender so she is a pig but she is like a rat according to her interpretation too.Anyway, in the authors astrology columns she tells you which lunar year you are born under but maybe she could have mentioned people born on the cusp of that year too as a bit more info.I read a really silly review of this book where the reveiwer said the chinese astrology is wrong here because you need the time date and year and this sounds like she is really confused .You just need the lunar year and you can find that out from tables in the book my only advice is I think Danton should have put in cusp people but I liked her style which I found lucid and fun and I liked my category of goddess which is dark as this really fits my magical side too .I have been a practising pagan for most of my adult life and I like people who are bold enough to propose new ways of seeing things . I find the premise that all women are individual goddesses very attractive and I also identify with much of what is said .If you are reading this book check out the section on goddesses and karma found this the best bit .

I liked reading Goddess Signs because I felt it gave me some great new infomation on my star sign and my goddess potential.I am a single mother and have a daughter of ten who is a cat like me .We are both moon goddesses under dantons system and I think this suits us perfectly as both of us love the moon and are into rituals.I am a wiccan and have my own attraction to different herbs and colors but must admit that dantons advice sounds interesting and mu daughter and I will try it . I also enjoyed the parts dealing with the God Goddess relationships as these are a lot of fun and as regards my ex spot on .Woman to woman ,I would recommend buying it !

I like the cool rituals in this book with your animal sign .There are a lot of books on spells out there but it is nice to read one with rituals including your personal animal according to your animal sign .I like being born under the sign of the Rooster anyway cause I love birds but that is another story .The reveiws on amazon are really good so I wanted to give mine . By the way for Harry Potter buffs ,I just checked out the animal sign of Daniel Radcliffe who plays Harry and he is a snake like JK Rowling .In the book ,the author says snakes are the Dark Gods and Goddesses so I thought this was a fun bit of trivia . Liked the celeb readings here too .

An interesting blend,
By loki (orlando ,florida) - See all my reviews

I just read a copy of Goddess Signs and I think that it has an interesting blend of ideas .Given that a lot of Wiccans and pagans like the concept of animal familiars and working with deeper magick in this way , I was actually more interested in this part of the books energy than the astrological although this if quite infomative too . I looked up my goddess and animal sign and they were a neat if rather contrasting fit .I am a Earth Goddess and an Ox. I have always really felt close to the Earth mother energies and so was quite at home here .I have attempted a few of the rituals as well and these felt very comfortable as I have always liked the animal energy in my deeper spell work . As a freelance witch I enjoyed the flow here and I am not too concerned with the recommendations for my sign because as an astrologer I would have to look at what associations come up for my moon and sun sign .Actually,I would have enjoyed it if the author could have given me more info on these . I liked it and would pass it around .

chinese astrology spot on!,
This review is from: Goddess Signs: Which One Are You? (Paperback)
I am a chinese astrologer trained in the field for over 15 years and I can say that this book contains lovely and true insights into the field.I have added it to my collection on the subject.A lot of western people think they understand this field but actually, you need to really practise in it to have an informed understanding. From my perspective,Goddess Signs delivers, you get to find out your nature, your strengths etc.I would like the author to do a western astrology sign/goddess book too.Spot on!
