5.0 out of 5 stars BEST nursing bra, ONLY one to buy for bustier moms!, July 5, 2008
This review is from: Goddess Soft Cup Nursing Bra Style 511 (Apparel)
I have researched, purchased, and tried out many different nursing bras, and this is BY FAR the most supportive, comfortable one of them all. I need some extra support (normally a 44ddd or 44f), and this is definitely the only nursing bra I would recommend to bustier moms. I normally prefer underwire support, but when you are nursing, underwires can cause mastitis (painful breast infection from clogged milk ducts...unpleasant, to say the least). This bra gives tons of support and is such a relief after wearing bras that just weren't "getting the job done."

That being said, there were a few things that I don't love, but the benefits FAR outweigh these.

First of all, I don't care for cups w/ seams...I prefer a seamless stretch cup for the look under clothing (these seams will show under form-fitting tops, and I felt like a 1950's sweater model...that part was actually good for my postpartum self-esteem, haha!!), but more importantly to avoid chafing (can be a problem, especially when you are getting the hang of nursing or just starting). I had a slight problem w/ this at first w/ this bra, but it was only for a couple of days, and was not a huge issue. Actually, if you use good nursing pads, that will eliminate the issue (as far as from the bra, not the nursing), and / or a lanolin product (helpful hint...when you are sore, the Lansinoah-type products are uncomfortable to apply b/c they are very thick and sticky and you have to really rub it them in...try a product like Gerber's "Breast Therapy Gentle Moisturizing Balm," which also does not need to be washed off before nursing, is lanolin-free (and therefore more affordable...more $ for diapers, or a good bra!) and hypoallergenic, and comes in a convenient applicator (looks like a big chapstick container).

Second...the sizing is a bit odd on this style...I was glad I'd researched it on a few sites, or I would have gotten the wrong size. In every other bra, I'm a 44DDD or F, but I got a 42dd in this, and it is perfect. I think I read somewhere that the cups are only "off" like this in a D cup and above, so you may want to check first yourself before ordering one size smaller than usual in the cup. I went from a 44 to a 42 based on advice from a professional fitter. If you go down one size in the band, you can wear it on the last row of hooks (I mean the row at the end of the band) when you first purchase, and as it stretches over time from wash and wear, you can use the rows further in on the band. This is b/c when you buy a bra, the size is normally designed to fit on the first row of hooks (the ones furthest from the end of the band).

I did notice that the clips to open the cups were a bit stiff to open at first, but they ease up over time, so I didn't consider that an issue. Also note, this is a comfortable, utilitarian bra, not an attractive, sexy one, but you will feel more attractive in your clothing because of the support, and more attractive when you are done with the nursing stage, as you will have done all you can to avoid the sag factor. Yikes!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great nursing bra, October 29, 2008
This review is from: Goddess Soft Cup Nursing Bra Style 511 (Apparel)
I loved this bra during the time I could use it. (I lost a lot of weight during nursing, and had to start using a size 30 or 32 band.) This bra is nice and supportive, and looks great under clothing. There is a seam on the cups, but it didn't bother me under most of my clothes.

My only complaint is that the clasp is difficult to re-fasten with one hand. With a little practice, I was able to do it, though. I only wish this bra came in smaller band sizes, because I would order another one in a heartbeat!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best nursing bra for the bustier mom, September 4, 2008

Ditto with everything "Shucker" stated in her review. This is the best nursing bra I've come across. I wish I'd known about it for my first child. It's extremely supportive both as a bra and during nursing. The opening is such that there's no need to hold or prop your breast in order to nurse. This is a HUGE plus for those of us who are bustier. The sizing is a bit off as I found the cups run a tad bigger. However, I just ordered a cup size smaller and it fit perfectly. This is not a sexy bra, ladies, but what it lacks in aesthetics it more than makes up for in function. The only negative comment I have is that the clasp is difficult to open and close with one hand. All in all, this is the best bra for the bustier mom!
