The Rise of Feminine Energy,
This review is from: Goddesses and Angels (Hardcover)
"You see, when you're in love, you look for similarities with your beloved. Since the root of all conflict is seeing differences between yourself and another, love truly seems to be the key to eliminating conflict." - Doreen Virtue
Collectively, our bodies are groaning under the weight of environmental pollution, sulfites, conflict, psychic debris, and ego-induced fears and stressors. On a larger scale, this strain is taking a toll on Mother Earth and precious natural resources. In her book Goddesses & Angels - Awakening Your Inner High-Priestess and "Source-eress", angel therapist and clairvoyant channel Doreen Virtue sounds a clarion call for reclaiming the Divine feminine that has largely been banished from modern culture. Stressing the importance of balance between feminine and masculine energies (rather than demonizing the latter), Doreen relates raw personal anecdotes and spiritual lessons for welcoming and integrating the Goddess. As she did in previous books like Angel Medicine, Doreen shares mystical, alchemical, and esoteric teachings culled from various shamans, healers, historians, scientists, and "new" kids that she encounters in her world travels. For example, Doreen and her husband (author/shaman Steven Farmer) meet with a Mayan astrologer in Cancun. The astrologer relates how the 13 houses of the Mayan system connect to the 13 annual cycles of the moon and feminine energy. As depicted on the Mexican flag, the matriarchal Mayan tradition believed in the balance of the serpent and the eagle-the feminine and masculine-for inner and outer harmony. In fact, the pyramid of Chichen Itza-based on the two Mayan calendars-reflects the fusing of these energies with the interior steps adding up to 260 (the number of days in the feminine Tzolkin calendar) and the outer steps adding up to 365 (the number of days in the masculine Haab calendar.) Woven throughout the fascinating conversations and synchronicities Doreen shares in Goddesses & Angels are intriguing metaphysical teachings based upon the Guidance and channelings of both Angels and Goddesses. Archangel Michael tells Doreen, quite bluntly, that sulfur-containing chemicals known as sulfites were causing her body to bloat and her skin to itch. As soon as she eliminated sulfites from her diet, the symptoms disappeared and 45 pounds melted right off her. Other fascinating information found in Goddesses and Angels include: * Healing ceremonies experienced in a sweat lodge, upon crystal beds, atop the rocks of Arizona, on the shores of sandy beaches, at the Lourdes grotto, within a Goddess Temple, at Brigit's Well, in Bernadette's Cahot and other sacred sites * The return of mer-people to the Earth and the possible aquatic origins of mankind-as well as the connection to dolphins * The unedited Course in Miracles, known as the Urtext, and how this document differs from the popular edited Course * Attributes, gifts, and personality traits of the four elements-Fire, Water, Air, and Earth-and how these correlate to hair and eye color * Messages from the Dalai Lama, Amma (the hugging saint), and Masaru Emoto as they relate to consciousness, peace, and compassion * Remembering Atlantean and Lemurian culture and spiritual teachings-including how the cravings for chocolate are the cravings for Atlantis * Further observations about the Indigo, Crystal, and Rainbow children * Manifestation and abundance * Biological functions such as the synchronization of mirror neurons and how they connect to increased consciousness * The power of water and fire energy and how they connect to invoking and manifesting Goddess energy * Energy drainage and its connection to etheric cords, excessive giving without regards to self-nurturing, and negative people and attitudes * Interactions with-and messages from-Goddesses such as Artemis, Xochiquetzal, Brigit, Kali, and Mother Mary as well as archangels Michael, Metatron, Raziel, and others * The power-and purpose-of prayer Other interesting tidbits and wise counsel are packed into Goddesses & Angels-Awakening Your Inner High-Priestess and "Source-eress". Part II of the book-spanning only 14 pages-lists various Goddesses and Angels, but the information is very basic. If you want a more thorough treatment of Goddesses and Angels-without the travelogue-Archangels and Ascended Masters is a better choice. I had resistance to some of the theories raised in the book, but I tried to keep an open mind. For example, Doreen believes in Walk-Ins, which are supposedly souls that "stepped into" the body of another when an individual is suicidal or traumatized. In his book Journey of Souls, hypnotherapist Dr. Michael Newton emphatically denies the existence of Walk-Ins because the transference would supplant and individual's personally chosen path. After regressing hundreds of people over the years, it was obvious that Walk-Ins did not exist. In addition, Doreen elevates dolphins to a spiritually ascended state, as do many New Agers. Yet, neither she nor dolphin devotees acknowledge the complex social structure of dolphins and how orchestrated gang rape, bullying, the harassment and forced isolation of females, and the killing of dolphin babies so they can "get it on" with the mother-occur quite frequently. (If this bursts your metaphysical bubble, you're not alone. My husband and I were disappointed to discover this, as well.) These behaviors are extra chilling in light of Doreen's belief that dolphins, once "one with the humans", shape-shifted and went to the sea until humanity became more "peaceful and environmentally conscious"-and that dolphin channelings assert that "Now is the time...we're coming back to take over the world." Fans of Doreen Virtue and books like The Lightworker's Way and Angel Medicine will be thrilled with Goddesses & Angels. If you're new to Doreen's work, it's not necessary to have read any of her other books to get something out of this one. However, if you're not used to New Age ideas, you may find this book a bit "out there". Doreen shows us her vulnerability, fears, and personal challenges and how she navigates her own path with the help of the Goddesses and Angels. It's refreshing to see such openness and curiosity by an author, especially in an era where many spiritual teachers arrogantly declare their personal beliefs as rock-solid universal truths and deride others with differing experiences. Humanity and the planet are in desperate need of feminine energy to balance the unchecked masculine energy that has reigned for centuries, and this book is an important addition to the swelling chorus welcoming the return of the Goddess.

Very pleasant and inspiring,

This review is from: Goddesses and Angels (Hardcover)
Goddesses and Angels is a very sweet and inspiring book, where we get treated once again to being witnesses to Doreen's life as she grows and discovers more about both herself and the many beings from other dimensions. The book is part autobiography and part teaching manual about the role that the various goddesses and angels may play in our lives.
I did not connect much with the energies of the goddesses (not really my thing), but I delighted in yet another installment in Doreen's journey. The autobiographical section is very much a follow up from her previous books "The lightworkers way", "Healing with the fairies" and "Angels medicine" and as such, very enjoyable. Doreen is very candid in the narrating of her life journey and I always feel inspired by her willingness to grow, fearlessly following her guidance with committment at every turn. If you have been observing her development through her various books, you will agree that she is an excellent example of how following one's guidance can radically transform our lives into the life of our dreams. Since her first autobiographical book, "The lightworkers way",infact, she has become an increadibly successful author and teacher, she has manifested a great husband to share her life with, she has transformed her body so that she looks about ten years younger and more...In this book we see her manifesting her dream home on the beach in Laguna. In this book we also get to vicariously travel with Doreen and her husband around the world. If you are into sacred travel, you will enjoy this part. As Doreen has become an internationally known teacher, it seems that she is constantly on the move. In Goddesses and Angels we follow her as she visits Sedona, Glastonbury, Hawaii, Australia and even Lourdes, as she attends to her teaching itinery and the promptings from Spirit on the road. At some point she even has a chance meeting with the dalai Lama...Lots of adventure here... Summing up: Goddesses and Angels is a very pleasant read. It wisks you away into a magical adventure and is a great tonic for the spirit. I left Doreen's world inspired to add more adventure into my own life and being more in touch with my own guidance and personal spiritual path. Recommended to all that need a top up in enthusiasm and wonder as they make their way in our sometimes too physical world.

Journey with the Goddesses,
By
This review is from: Goddesses and Angels (Hardcover)
Another great book, Goddesses & Angels picks up on Doreen's spiritual journey where "Angel Medicine" leaves off.
In part 1 we get to hear about Doreen's travels through Sedona, Cancun, Lourdes (and more). Part 2 is actually a chart showing the Goddesses and Angels (a few of them anyway) and their correspondences, and then a list of some of the Goddesses and Angels and a brief description of their specialty. This list (36 goddesses) was not as extensive as her set of Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards (44 goddesses), but does feature 13 Goddesses that are NOT in the oracle card set. The book only lists 9 of the archangels, but that didn't bother me as there is plenty of information about them in her other works. What I really found endearing about this book was actually reading about Doreen's experiences and her continual journey toward healing. As famous and as spiritual as she is, she still has to work on herself, her diet and her relationship with her husband and other loved ones. She shows us that this is very doable, and that the Goddesses and Angels are more than willing to help out. The Goddesses have a lot to say to us right now, and I would highly recommend this book for anyone interested in connecting with this powerful Divine Feminine energy.

A bit over the top,
This review is from: Goddesses & Angels (Paperback)
I really adore this author, but I think her marketing has gotten out of control. Many of the Hay House authors have gotten so caught up in "manifesting" and this story has been effected by it as well. Much of this "spiritual adventure story" was about Doreen manifesting her dream house on the Ocean, and her "trouble free life". I'm not quite sure how this is inspiring people. She currently selling dresses online in the tune of $350+, because they have deities on them.
I think the author needs to reconnect again with real people and help them learn how to heal their esteem and self image, and I think by her talking about her fairy tale life all the time is not the most effective way to do this. Still, she is a wonderful researcher, a very gifted psychic with a true gift to offer the world, and has a good heart as well. This is a useful book. Hopefully, in her future books, she'll get back down to earth.

A page-turner, full of inspiring thoughts,
By S. Nair (Perth, Western Australia Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Goddesses and Angels (Hardcover)
I very much enjoyed reading "Goddesses and Angels". I had read Doreen's two other books before - "Divine Guidance" and "Messages from Your Angels". I enjoyed these two books as well. "Goddesses and Angels" is different in tone and format, but the core message I got was the same - all about love and truth.
I had fun reading about Doreen's exciting travel adventures to magical places. I felt that she shared an honest account of her personal experiences. I thought her research findings told in between her spiritual adventures were very inspiring. The information Doreen reports from her interviews with other notable researchers also pointed me to interesting resources to explore. For instance, some fascinating findings on why dolphins are so special, and on weird and magical properties of water. The final part of the book is a guide to Goddesses and Angels. Overall, "Goddesses and Angels" is a great read!

Heartwarming,

Despite the fact that it took me over a month to read this book, I loved it and found it was one of few books that is good to read just a little at a time.
This is the kind of book that should be read in small fragments in a calm atmosphere so that you can really try to feel what the author felt at the time. This is the first book by Doreen Virtue that I started to read, and I really like the way how she conveys what she means to tell to her audience. She'll give examples of how she interacts with goddesses and angels as she goes through the everyday dealings of life. While this was definately not written as a "How to" book, there are deeper messages that she conveys, ultimately, through the way she thinks and how she honestly feels about something. The only that would have made this book a little better would have been diversity. She mostly focuses on the water aspects of the goddess, and though she realizes that she needs to incorporate the other elements, especially fire, into her works and life, she still continues with the water thing. Still, what I read was greatly enjoyed, and I'd recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in reading about how someone communicates with angels and goddesses in their life. I hope that Doreen Virtue will make another part to this book that is more of a "How To..." because not everyone is as experienced as the next person.

Journeys with Doreen,
By
This review is from: Goddesses & Angels (Paperback)
This 233 page book from 2005 is not Doreen's best work but I found it interesting. It is about "awakening your inner high-priestess and sourceress" and it really is more of a journey with Doreen as she travels to some very special places. Among them are the special energy centers of Sedona Arizona, the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza' Mexico, The Isle of Avalon, the Village of St Bernadette and the Grotto of Our Lady in Lourdes France. Doreen shares stories about visions, sightings, experiences that she had at these and other locations as well as what she has learned/received from special people, such as the Dalai Lama. Doreen shares information about the Indigo, Crystal, and Rainbow children, about Lemuria and the Merpeople, Goddesses, Angels, her Native American sweat lodge experience, the Harmonic Concordance, and other topics.
Doreen also writes in some detail about the "Urtext," the alleged origial unedited version of "A Course in Miracles." This very large and detailed unedited version is said to be quite interesting and a different experience from the edited versions being sold today. (After I read about the Urtext, I found it easily available online-as a free download.)

Doreen Virtue can help change your life!,
By
This review is from: Goddesses and Angels (Hardcover)
Doreen virtue is one of those rare, genuine people who actually lives what she preaches. She is not "faking' her way through in no since of the term. She is true-blue, on-target, and a believer of the power of the Divine. By opening your heart and mind to the wisdom and teachings within any of Doreen's books, you can take control of your life and change the way you live forever! I am a living testament to that fact!
I met Doreen October of 2004, and I was frustrated and lost! I attended her Angel Therapy Practitioner course in Laguna Beach, CA, and it changed my life. Connecting with my Angles, my spirit and opening my soul to love, learn and live catapulted me on an amazing journey of transformation and adventure. It has been less than a year since I met Doreen and her husband Steven Farmer, and I have published my first book titled `Connecting with the Bliss of Life' which (Steven wrote the foreword for) and my second `Manifest your Life Now!' will be out in December 05. Goddesses and Angels is yet another fantastic book about the Divine Spirit world and the uplifting stories of how connecting with that world can change lives. Some people remain skeptical about talking to Angles, but as Doreen always says "why refuse free help that is available to you 47/7?" And you'd be crazy not too. I opened my mind to the wisdom of Doreen Virtue, and it changed my life! Buy this book, you will be glad you did...
