3.0 out of 5 stars Really dark
The eyebrow dye is easy to use and 3 weeks later is still covering gray. I was worried when my eyebrows turned really dark brown for the first few days and I looked like a cross between Joan Crawford and Groucho Marx! Then the color evened out. I will use the product again.

It took me a long time to get to this point, but I'll continue to buy this product as long as they make it. I have really fair eyebrows - annoyingly so - pencils and shadows go on badly, and even if I could find something that stayed put for the day, I really just don't have the time or patience to draw them every day. I wasn't sure I had enough brows to tint, but I bought the Godefroy medium brown eyebrow tint and it worked extremely well. I followed the instructions exactly - I had to go over the brows a few times, because I wasn't aggressive in the application of it (and I only left the tint on 1-2 minutes each time, checking and reapplying until they matched). It didn't stain my skin, wiped off easily, and went on lightly enough that it doesn't feel overly dramatic.

I was amazed after using the tint to find out that my natural brow shape was there all along and that I had plenty there to work with, despite fears that my brows might be too sparse. Now that they're tinted, no more guesswork into shaping, which was formerly impossible (you can't tweeze what you can't see)!

I would especially recommend this product to anyone who wants to take their brows from blonde to brown without the change appearing drastic.

T.M.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product - so far, August 29, 2008
Wow,I now have VEB (visible eye brows)! Barring any nasty alergic reaction that hasn't hit me yet, I would highly recommond this product. I only just did my brows in the last hour, but so far, so good.

They look great and very natural in the medium brown. I've used Roux and Swiss-O-Par in the past, and they don't compare to this for cost, shelf life, results, or ease of application. With the other 2, Roux especially, I had to be EXTREMELY careful not to let the applicator come in contact with any skin while applying because it would instantly leave a very noticable and unremovable dark stain. Very hard for me, because my brows are somewhat sparse and my skin very fair. The Godefroy product will leave a slight residue on the skin if it comes in contact, but it is just barely visible and I expect that it will disappear after a couple of showers. I would not even mind if it didn't go away because it just makes my brows appear a little fuller. After testing it on my arm for staining, I felt comfortable applying it liberally to my very blonde brows in the shape I wanted my brows to appear.

A few tips:
1. I tossed the wax strips and instead just dyed my brows to the right shape, leaving hairs I didn't want seen un-dyed.

2. I used an angled eyebrow brush to apply the dye. Worked very well!

3. I used about one third of one capsule to do both my brows, and I went over them twice. There was plenty to work with.

So far, I'm extremely happy with this product. What remains to be seen is skin reaction if any, and how long the color lasts. I'll update this review if I find either of those 2 areas lacking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this product, May 14, 2010

I had used this product several years ago and loved it then was unable to find it again. Now it's back and I am very happy. I have very light, sparse eyebrows with some gray hair as well. I use this product and it darkens them to my very light brown hair color and does cover the gray. I would say that it doesn't last for 6 weeks but it doesn't take long to dye them, so it's no big deal. If you are looking for a lighter shade, I would suggest only leaving it on for about 30-45 seconds. The first time I looked like Groucho Marx. And I hadn't protected my surrounding skin so it was everywhere. It will dye your skin and it does last for a day or two. So make sure that you use something on the surrounding skin to protect it. I apply a thin layer of mineral oil with a Q-tip (baby oil is exactly the same, it just has fragrance added) and I use a small, stiff angled makeup brush to apply it. I don't care for the wooden applicators they give you. If it is too light, you can always do it again. And the amount of dye in the capsules can be divided up and you don't have to use a whole capsule at a time. I get at least twice as many applications this way. But like I said, my eyebrows are thin and sparse so you will have to evaluate it for yourself. I would recommend this product to anyone. I have sensitive skin and I have no reaction to the dye. Just be very careful that you do not mix it too thin and it drips. The last thing you want is dye dripping in your eye. That's why I prefer the brush over the stick. You can control it much easier.

i have been dying my hair blond for years and have almost non existent eyebrows, so when i discovered this product, i was very excited. it does a great job dying my eyebrows, however even the "light brown" color is pretty dark no matter how short of time i dye them. i usually look a bit silly for a day or two until the product settles in so i plan my dye jobs accordingly (over the weekend and not right before i leave the house).

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this product!, June 28, 2008

I have been looking for an eyebrow dye for a while, and this product really gets the job done. My eyebrows have naturally gone from light blonde as a child to brown as a young adult to almost "invisible clear" hairs (those with the same know exactly what I mean!). From a distance of 5 feet, it appeared as though I had no brows at all. (They were so light). This product gave me the eyebrows I've been yearning for, and the best thing is that I've thrown my eyebrow pencils in the trash!!! Yay! I recommend it without hesitation!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars For Optimal Results, March 16, 2010
This review is from: Godefroy Instant Eyebrow Tint Permanent Eyebrow Color Kit Eyebrow Makeup (Misc.)
I waited two weeks after I dyed my eyebrows to make the review, to see if the dye would fade. It has not faded at all and my eyebrows look perfect. I never thought I would say that. I didn't know how terrible my eyebrows looked until they looked good again. Below are the things I did that weren't included in the instructions to get optimal results.

First, this is an excellent eyebrow dye. I like it better than Roux, and you also can't beat Godefroy's price. One reviewer said it didn't work on any of her clients. I'm surprised because a professional should know that everyone is different. Some people are resistant to dyes and exceptions to the general rule should be made. One size does not fit all. Personally, I am resistant to hair dye. I buy professional color and leave it on my hair for an hour because I also have resistant gray hair. This is the reason why I don't go to the stylist. It always turned out to be a waste of money to get my hair colored. You know your hair best. What works for one does not work for all. I took resistance into consideration when I did my eyebrows too.

The first suggestion I have before you use this product is to let your eyebrows grow in, even if you only get sparse hairs here and there. Do not touch your eyebrows for a month or two, depending on how long it takes for whatever is going to come in to come in. This is very important, especially for people who have sparse eyebrows due to years of over tweezing. Even if no tweezing for one to two months looks bad, leave it alone. It is worth it in the end.

Okay, all the hairs are in, and some are very light (especially the ones that grew back) At that moment I have a mess for eyebrows, a terrible shape, and more than one color. On to using the dye. I would recommend not going out the day you dye your eyebrows, especially if you use my suggestions. My eyebrows were very dark for the first couple of days. I didn't use the vaseline that was suggested in the instructions. I wanted to be in total control of how my eyebrows would be shaped, and felt that the vaseline would get in the way of that.

I took the stick and put the dye on one eyebrow. Go slowly and let the artist in you come out. It is like you are drawing a picture. With the stick, reshape your eyebrow with the dye into the shape that you want. Put the dye on the light sparse hairs too and slowly draw your eyebrow back. Go the opposite way too like the directions state. Leave on two minutes. Wipe everything off with a wet paper towel. I could tell right then and there that I did not like the results, but I did the other eye for two minutes just so they would both be on for the same amount of time. My eyebrows were still too light, and those sparse light hairs were too light. On to round two. I wiped with a dry tissue to make sure that my brows were not damp. This time I left the dye on my eye for three minutes. Took the dye off with the wet paper towel. Perfect! All hairs were the same color and my eyebrows were full. My eyebrows were also very dark and there was some dye on my skin, but at least I had eyebrows again. Did the second eye also for three minutes.

A couple of hours later, I tweezed. Verrrry slowly I might add. I tweezed into the shape I wanted to have. Go slow and take your time. Concentrate on what you want for an eyebrow. So my eyebrows were tweezed and shaped but still very dark. I washed my face very well and they were still dark. The next day I washed my face again and the brows lightened up a little. The day after, washed face and eyebrows were perfect. It took about three days to get the dye off the skin and the color to be the color it was supposed to be. It's now two weeks later and I will tweeze again. Tweezing is very easy now because what grows in is lighter than the rest of my eyebrow. The color is still on and my brows look VERY natural. You would never know that I dyed my brows or that I had sparse hairs at one time. I look at my eyebrows in the mirror and I can't believe that they "came back." To me they are perfect.

I don't know when I will have to dye them again. But when I do, I will do it a week or so before something important comes up. I will allow a week for the color to calm down. I will still use the same method. Two minutes on, wipe off, three minutes on, wipe off. Eyebrow makeup has gotten thrown out. I don't have a need for it any more. Some people said there is waste with the dye because you mix more than you need. I don't think it's wasteful because I did and will continue to do two applications. Play around with the dye and experiment. You don't have to follow the instructions verbatim. You know your hair best and what works and doesn't work for you. You also know if your hair is resistant to perms, dyes, etc. Chances are if your hair doesn't behave, your eyebrows won't either. That's when you have to make your own instructions to tweak it so it's right for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what my brows needed, June 17, 2010

The reviews on this product are very helpful. I used a old narrow mascara wand which I had cleaned, 2 Q-tips and a little olive oil in a small, small dish. I used half of a capsule of dye and mixed up the dye. Then I applied the oil around my brow with a Q-Tip. I applied the dye to the mascara wand very thinly and then brushed the dye on my brows. I took the clean end of the Q-Tip I had used to apply the oil and wiped off any dye that had gotten on my skin (very gently). I had a wet towel handy and after 30 seconds I wiped off the dye. My brows needed more color so I dyed them a second time. The color was just right and I had no color on my skin. The color is a darker brown, so I highly suggest that you wipe the dye off after 20 or 30 seconds the first time to make sure it is not too dark for you. I had plenty of dye left over so I don't think you need to use a whole capsule of dye unless you have a lot of brow to dye (my brows are thin). Anyway, be patient, don't skip any steps and you will be pleased with this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Colorful Brows, June 14, 2010

This review is from: Godefroy Instant Eyebrow Tint Permanent Eyebrow Color Kit Eyebrow Makeup (Misc.)
This brow color works great for those who wish to color graying brows. This is the first time I've used it and it did work. Put up the Do Not Disturb sign! Make sure there are no phone calls or other interruptions while you are mixing & applying the color, because you'll want to focus on timing the length of time that you leave the color on. Follow the instructions and color one brow at a time. Your entire brow will become the same color in a matter of 1-2 minutes. Make sure you're next to your sink, so you can rinse out the color immediately. I used the medium brown and it looks good. There are several (dry) color capsules remaining and enough developer to use the product several more times. But I'd purchase the light brown next time, as my skin is fair. and the medium brown is just a smidge too dark. It's better than having to apply eyeliner to color the gray brows every morning! TIP: if some color remains on the skin under your brow after rinsing out the color, dip a cotton swab into some lemon juice and rub it on your brow. It will remove the color from your skin, without changing the color of your brow.Godefroy Instant Eyebrow Tint medium brown

4.0 out of 5 stars Careful if you're fair haired!, May 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love the convenience and ease of this product, but I must warn any of you out there with fair hair... My eyebrows are naturally VERY blonde (I like to refer to the color as clear!), and even though I used the lightest shade possible and left it on for only 30 seconds I still ended up with near black eyebrows! Fortunately my husband thinks they're sexy, so it's all good in the end. I like the ease of mixing and the quick application, wait and wash time. I just wish there were a way to really stop the color process and leave my brows only slightly darker than their natural shade. Good luck all!

I bought this after having my eyebrows professionally tinted a couple times, which cost me over $30 each visit. Godefroy is a great way to keep up the color and save money. I got the medium brown and I only left it on for one minute each brow, and that was plenty for me. It does fade somewhat fast, but so does professional dye--the fact that the box says it lasts 6 weeks is laughable, unless they mean that the whole box will last you six weeks. I've been re-dyeing once per week and it's still saving a lot of money. The box costs only $9 on Amazon and half a capsule of powder is more than enough for both brows, meaning it's going to cost me about $1.00 per application. Not bad!

A few recommendations for applying the dye: I use an eyebrow makeup brush to apply the dye. I put chapstick around my brow before putting on the dye, rather than dealing with messy Vaseline. I do one eyebrow at a time as the box recommends. Immediately after I'm done, I use a toothbrush and some dish soap and scrub each brow, this does not fade the dye but it gets any excess dye off the skin.
