David,

This review is from: Godfather Trilogy 1901-1980 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
You won't find this version of the classic Godfather Trilogy anywhere else! This exclusive version tells the story of the Godfather (Parts I, II and III) specially edited into a single movie in chronological order by Francis Coppola himself with additional scenes and footage not in the theatrical releases and not in any other release currently available. It also includes a bonus "behind-the-scenes" video and booklet and comes in a black collector's box. Over 9 hours of video! The best of the best!

Most complete version of Godfather saga; great extra footage,
This review is from: Godfather Trilogy 1901-1980 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This set actually contains six videos, not five -- the sixth is a documentary made in 1990 containing several outtakes and behind-the-scenes footage from the three films (but especially I and III). These outtakes include the famous "screen test" for Brando (actually, a makeup test), and the equally fascinating test by Robert DeNiro for the role of Sonny. The best, however, is the weaving of the three films into one coherent and chronological whole. Only one flashback is retained -- the return of Vito (DeNiro) to Corleone to kill Don Ciccio. But most important, more than a half-hour of CRUCIAL footage is restored, especially to Parts I and II. They include several parts of James Caan's performance as Sonny; a brilliant scene with the dying Consigliere, Genco Abbandando; and two scenes from the early 1900s with the young Clemenza (Bruno Kirby). The only thing possibly missing here -- widescreen presentation. But the quality of the missing footage, plus the extra sixth video, more than make up for any deficiencies.

the godfather saga,

This review is from: The Godfather Collection: 25th Anniversary [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This movie was unforgettable. The saga version is the most memorable for me because it combined the entire story the way the director would have done if he could have predicted its success. Too bad it is no longer available for future generations to enjoy...

The Saga From Start To Finish,
By Anne Chapman Brown "ACB" (Marshall, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Godfather Trilogy 1901-1980 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Incredible saga from start to finish. From the rise of Vito Corleone (Robert De Niro as young Vito, Marlon Brando as old Vito), to the rise and devastating fall of Michael (Hauntingly played by Al Pacino),The Godfather Trilogy is incredible (Even the last one, with the badly miscast Sofia Coppola). The Corleones are the ultimate anti-heroes: you want to root for them to bump off their enemies, and yet, they are also the bad guys. You even root for Sonny (Wickedly played by James Caan), when he beats up his abusive brother-in-law. They also suffer from betrayal from within the family: Fredo (Wonderfully acted by the late John Cazale), betrays his brother Michael just so he could have a little something for himself. Michael's reaction to Fredo's betrayal is heartbreaking. It's too bad that this is not delved more deeply in the final chapter instead of putting in plots that go nowhere (The fling between Bridget Fonda and Andy Garcia simply goes nowhere at all). All in all, the trilogy deals with loss: From the loss of Vito's family, to the loss of Michael's soul when he takes over the family business. This film is a must have in your collection.

The movie of all movies,

This review is from: Godfather Trilogy 1901-1980 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
All of the Godfather movies are great. Althought i have all the movies already i wish the studios would release the recent edition. I have followed these movies all the way and will continue to do so at all times. I think all of the actors are great in the movies, and feel that no matter what, no other producer will ever make a movie coming near to the Godfather, and probably never will.

My thoughts on the Godfather,
By A Customer
This review is from: Godfather Trilogy 1901-1980 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I believe that this is the best movie ever made. With a great plot, and the best actors, such as: Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, etc. I think Part I or Part II would be my favorite. I like Part III, but it lacked style. I think that making a Part IV wouldn't be the best idea because of the lack of actors.

An epic masterpiece of a Sicilian family's rise to power,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Godfather Collection: 25th Anniversary [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The Godfather will rated as one of the greatest sagas in movie history. The Godfather(Marlon Brando)is the patriarch of the Corlene Crime Family. Coppola paints a chilling portrait of Sicilian family's rise and near fall from power in America, and the passage of rites from father to son. He masterfully balances the story between family life and the ugly business of crime in which they are engaged. It's a movie that you you watch repetly again and again.Once you owns this movie you will be compelled to purchase the remaining 2 parts of this trilogy.thank you reading the folowing Vinnie

Beyond Belief,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Godfather Trilogy 1901-1980 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This trilogy is by far the most excilerating ever. It tells the story of the rise and fall of the Corleone crime family. Although this is a fictional story, It is one of the best stories that portrays the acts of a real Mafia family. After Vito Corleone(Michael's father) dies, it is up to Michael to take up the family business. Michael finds himself turning into one of the most feared gangters of his time. Watch this action packed film with plenty of mind blowing suprises. It is an all around great trilogy staring;Al Pacino,Marlin Brando,Robert Deniro and other great actors.
