Godinger, the choice of many newlyweds, is renowned for both silver and crystal giftware and tableware. Like all fine crystal, the Butterfly vase should be carefully washed by hand, particularly the delicate wings, to avoid breakage as well as harsh detergents that might affect its clarity. --Ann Bieri

Pretty Nice...,

The vase is pretty, but the quality is moderate... When I recieved my vase, one of the butterflies was broken off of the vase. I was going to return it, but the maintenance people at my job tossed it out by mistake. Would I buy it again? Yes, but for $20 - $25, not for $40. It was pretty, it really was, but the quality could be better...

Unfortunately, I was under the impression that most of the other reviewers were having problems getting their vases shipped to them without breaking. So, when I received my vase without any breakage, I thought, "Lucky me." Especially since it is a BEAUTIFUL vase. That is, until the butterflies started popping off. I had just washed (by hand) the vase and set it down to dry. BTW, the crystal is very fragile you have to be very careful with it; and because of the odd shape of the top and the butterflies all around the side, you cannot invert the vase to air dry upside down nor in a drying rack. You have to just let it sit on your counter and dry as it is (then dump accumulated water out once it is mostly dry).
I returned the first vase and asked Amazon to send a replacement. That was fine until my husband walked passed the vase and literally, another butterfly just popped off. Luckily they did not shatter, but landed whole on the table. On a hunch, I took a hold at all the remaining butterflies and gave each one a gentle tug. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM POPPED OFF without any effort at all (except for one butterfly which managed to hang on, but it may have come off if I tried to tug it a bit harder.) I have super-glued them back on, but they come off again. For $40 you do not expect this kind of crap. What happened to quality control?

The first time they shipped me the vase, it came with all the butterflies broken off. It was no problem getting a new and intact vase for free after I called their customer service. However, after about a week, the butterflies on the unbroken vase began falling off on their own. And no amount of super-glue will keep them on! As this vase was a gift for my mom's birthday, I was very disappointed. Do not buy this vase unless you are looking for an overpriced disposable vase!
