This review is from: Godinger Dublin Crystal Set of 12 Double Old Fashioned Glasses (Kitchen)
In terms of price, this is a pretty good deal, but it is misleading to label this as European-style crystal. My wife and I received a Godinger set in this pattern about 10 years ago. At the time, the crystal was designed in Ireland but produced in Slovakia; they felt almost as good and heavy as Waterford. Over time, many of them broke, so I recently purchased a new set, but I returned it the next day. I was very disappointed in the drop in quality compared to what we received under the Godinger name in 1997. The glasses are now produced in China and have very little crystal feel to them. They feel like heavy glass, and lack the thin walls and clean cuts that make European crystal so appealing. They also "ping" much less clearly. Most disturbingly, they carry a warning to soak each in vinegar before using--which makes me wonder what heavy metal/alkali content is involved. The bottom line is that this is not the medium to high quality crystal it used to be. You do get a lot of glasses for a fair price, but they are not likely to satisfy customers who are used to Godinger's previous crystal.

Glasses made in China of inferior quality,
This review is from: Godinger Dublin Crystal Set of 12 Double Old Fashioned Glasses (Kitchen)
Glasses are made in Europe or China. Made in Europe, the glasses are a great value. Made in China, the glasses are of such inferior quality they are not worth the shipping. The risk of receiving the Chinese glasses are not worth the risk.

These glasses are comfortable to hold and heavy enough to generate the confidence that even if they are knocked over (which would probably not happen because of their shape and weight), they won't break. They have the appearance of fine Irish crystal.
