My hair is very dark and I use this to color the grey.
Caroline
This henna also rinsed out very easy, not like some of the other brands I have used in the past.
Namaste58
I am pleased with the results and will definitely continue to apply this henna to my hair.

Because of the interest in this topic, I have put an updated review with pictures on our blog Evolving Dish: [...] - I hope it helps!

The first time I used just the Nupur powder and loved the shine and softness, but I had wanted my hair a little darker brown, not as coppery. (My hair is normally medium brown - the copper was lovely, I just wanted it darker and richer looking and not so red.) So I added indigo powder and a few other things and WOW! My hair is so shiny, soft, pretty, rich looking and feeling now. I am 42 and have done everything to my hair (can't do the chemicals anymore as even the "natural" hair dyes make my scalp blister :-() and I have NEVER been happier with the color or texture of my hair than I am after using this product. The way it sparkles in the sun is amazing, and my boyfriend compliments me almost every day on my hair now. In fact, this is the first Amazon review I've ever written; that's how impressed I am with this product, and I highly recommend it--with a little tweaking.

This is the formula and process that worked very well for me after different experiments and attempts - if you have brown hair and want it softer, shinier, richer, deeper, with coppery shine in the sun.

What you will need to begin:

- Nupur henna mix (green bag)

- Indigo powder (silver bag) Natural Indigo Powder 100 Grams Bag (wasma in Arabic and Urdu) Indigofera Tinctoria Last crop

- conditioning hair oil and/or pre-shampoo hair treatment - I have used

I LOVE THIS FORMULA!!!

I henna'd for the first time last weekend. I LOVED IT!!!! I was hesitant to henna because I heard stories about it making your hair bright red or loosening your curl pattern. I don't want that at all. It did darken my hair to a very soft black. My hair is naturally dark brown. This henna made my curls soooooo soft and strong! It may have made my strands thicker, I can't really tell. But I do know that I am beyond satisfied with the results. This formula is very conditioning and seems to fortify your hair with nutrients. My hair was really shiny without any type of oil. It also really soothed my itchy scalp.

I add water to the powder and let it sit for about 4-5 hours in a plastic bowl. Then when I'm ready to apply it, I mix in 3 eggs. My natural, fine 4a/b pen spring coils love protein. I also mixed in a TBS of Avocado oil and some essential oils. I apply it to washed, and clarified, towel dried hair and left it on for 4 hours. Next time I may leave it on longer. It is a bit messy (next time I'll use less water) but it's not that bad at all. It's soooo worth it!!

I used to dye my partially gray hair with commercial dye and it starting getting really thin, so I gave henna a try. I have used the Light Mountain brand and this one. Both worked quite well at getting the gray out, and my hair seems thicker already. Since this particular brand does not include any instructions and doesn't come with gloves or a cap (the reason for only 4 stars), I'm including my advice from the other brands:
-Do not use any metal when mixing or dyeing, and be sure to remove jewelry.
-Mix whole package with 2 cups hot water, or 1 cup hot water and 1 cup hot black coffee (I do this to avoid orange tones).
-Let mixture sit in bowl for 2-3 hours.
-Shampoo your hair, do not condition. Towel dry.
-Apply henna to hair with gloves on, put plastic cap over hair to stop any drips, and blow dry cap intermittently.
-Rinse henna out completely after 3-4 hours. Do not use shampoo or conditioner.
So far, the henna has given me dark copper-red highlights over the grays and roots. I imagine that once I cut off my commercially dyed black ends it will look more even. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the results.

So gals n guys here is my experience...I am so excited!!!.After doing a month of research on henna from wherever possible, I was still just not into it,so many questions brewing in my mind everyday seemed like solving the never ending mysteries of hennaland. Then finally I decided to give it a go.
I am an Asian with straight fine black hair which give a brownish tint in the sun, I am having many white hair showing up though I am in my mid twenties (never ever used any chemicals/perms/hot treatments on my hair)which looked ugly. My hair are very long, upto my tailbone so I was wondering how much henna to use. This is the stuff which I collected first to prepare for my battle :)
-Nupur mehandi 150 mg/one pack
-Hair accessories kit (very very useful and cost-effective, available on amazon, I was so excited that I gave my first review of life for that too). The kit had a cap-soft and very fit for average sized head and had ties, a paint brush, a plastic spatula/mixer, a dark cape-really really helped, pair of disposable gloves.
-Coconut oil
-Lavender oil (100% pure, got from Amazon)
-Yoghurt
-warm-hot water
-Plastic container/bowl
-Small plastic sheet (I used the bubble wrap and plastic sheet which is found inside the Amazon shipments sometimes :)
-Vaseline (100% pure petroleum jelly), if applied on forehead, ears and neck-front and back, henna will not stain any part
-Conditioner (I used Pantene conditioning shampoo though, the one which claims to protect dye color)

Here are the steps which I followed,
First I rapidly flipped through the you tube videos again (is this a sign of obsessive-compulsive disorder) just to make sure that I am not missing any relevant detail.
