First off I admire the Josephs for their work in Japan. But frankly this book could have been better. The writing is filled with spelling errors or wrong words used. You can get past this but at times it makes you stop and think what the original word must have been. This book really needs another run through with an editor to fix things.
The rest is a decent read about their lives. However, it does skip around some which can get confusing. Especially when a word is misplaced or spelled wrong. Personally I was looking for more of their experiences in Japan, which it does give some parts of. But it isn't as deep as I hoped. It does give a good picture of why the gospel hasn't spread well in Japan. Along with some tidbits of what missionaries face there. But if you want help to understand the culture and how to minister to these people, this book won't add much. Understanding Japan and other books do this much better. In fact, many of the other books which Kenny notes writing within this book sound much more interesting than this was.
As one with a heart after Japan for Jesus, I picked this up on a whim after seeing Kenny on TBN one day. I don't regret the purchase but I think the book in its current state is incomplete. My rating reflects this. Hopefully there will be a future revision.
