This review is from: The Gods Are Wise (Atlantean Secrets) (Paperback)
This book is, of course, a continuation of the story of the downfall of Atlantis and of those who worked and sacrificed to preserve its knowledge for future generations.

Here we find Gervin, Szar, Teyani, Elyani and other priests and priestesses of the temple of Esraim trying desperately, with the help of friends and allies, to transfer their knowledge to the archives of the Fields of Peace before Atlantis collapses completely. Szar is now an initiate and is on his way to becoming a Master of Thunder. He is devastated when he learns that his beloved Elyani has been chosen to ascend to the realm of the Gods because he knows the last initiate who tried died in the attempt because of the deterioration of the force fields that keep Atlantis in existence, not to mention that he will not now be able to marry her. His trials intensify as he is tempted by Ahriman (better known to us as Satan, the Prince of Darkness) and he realizes that he must find a way to help Elyani ascend, even though he will lose her in the process.

I must say that I find it wonderful to read about people for whom the words "love" and "loyalty" have great meaning. Strong warriors cry unashamedly when they feel grief, and other strong warriors give them emotional support. The love between lovers and friends is pure and selfless. Teachers are supportive and encouraging to their students. I wish I could say that I see that all the time in this world, but I don't. For those who have never known the meaning of love, loyalty and emotional support, this is a safe place to learn about them. For those who have forgotten the meaning of these words, this is a great place to recall them.

There is plenty of action and suspense here also, and I can't help but be reminded of Star Wars. In fact, this series of books is reminiscent of both Star Wars and Dune. The inference in Star Wars was that there is a need to start training for Masterhood when you are a toddler, and that Anakin Skywalker turned to the Dark Side because he wasn't in training from the beginning of his life. Yet there are people in this book beginning their training when they are older and succeeding in reaching masterhood. The difference, I think, is the level of support the trainee gets and the examples that others, especially his teachers, set. I did not get any sense of that kind of support for Anakin Skywalker. Anyway, there is a lot of food for thought here, and I am looking forward to reading the last book in the series and afterwards Bleeding Sun.

If you'd care to read my articles about the esoteric meaning of Star Wars, they are stored in the archives of echostation.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars Paradoxes in the worlds of the Gods...., April 15, 2000
This review is from: The Gods Are Wise (Atlantean Secrets) (Paperback)
The very fabric of their world, the fields, are breaking down...this would kind of be like electricity ceasing to function in our day.

Atlantis will fall.

Preparing for this brings great sorrow but also great awakening as the light of the gods is ever fading further into a distant memory...those with will can see the truth of what is going to happen...those who are asleep refuse to see it... Scary parallels with our world today as it seems the light of our guardians seem harder and harder to find in this materialistic, money-driven world...

An amazing series. You must read all of the Atlatean Secrets series. The series carries you along a path of awakening through the books. If you are ready, they will trigger awakenings within you. If not, it is still a fun read.
