I was looking through this book and immediately noticed a few major errors in the Inca section. On page 78 there is a photo with a caption that reads, "A stylized Sun God from the Tomb of El Sol at Chiclayo, Peru. This piece is made of shell." However, this is a picture of Ai Apaec (aka Decapitator god) from Huaca de la Luna, Peru. It's not a Sun god. It is not even Incan, it's from the Moche culture who lived in the desert of Peru. Also it's not made of shell, it's an adobe frieze.

Another major error is the misspelling of the Urubamba River throughout the Inca chapter. Page 81 and 101 have captions about this river and the author keeps calling it Uruhamba but this is incorrect.

Then on pages 82-84 the author misspells Lake Titicaca several times. He spells it Titicaco.

I noticed all these errors in a few minutes and still haven't been through the whole book so there are probably many more so beware when reading this book.

Wonderful and informative book. Subject matter ranges from everday life, diet, historical dress and accessories. Mythology, religious beliefs, and wonderful illustrations and photos of rare codexi. Highly recommended.
