Review

ForeWord Clarion Review: Five Stars (out of Five)Accessible and inspiring, Layhee's advice helps Christians find success and happiness both in and out of the office. Every type of professional can make use of Layhee's career guide...Layhee's handbook is written using accessible language. Short paragraphs make it easy to take in both biblical passages and rich tips about becoming an effective leader and valued worker... Though focused on Christianity, any faith-curious person can learn the power of positivity and humility at work. Like Psalm 128:2, "You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessing and prosperity will be yours." Layhee's book guides people toward spiritual and professional glory. Lisa Bower

Christian Book Review by Kingdom Expansion: 10.0 out of 10.0 Stars "An outstanding read for every Christian in the workplace...Full of encouragement and biblical principles, the author systematically goes through the Bible, beginning from Genesis, to give a full spectrum scope of correct biblical attitudes, beliefs and abilities that pertain to Christians in the marketplace and beyond.  Within that, the author explains clearly that God created work and that work is an integral part of being blessed throughout life.  Rich with Scripture, the author gives a biblical picture of what God had in mind when He created work....This book will enrich every area of your life and is a blessing to the Body of Christ. You won't be disappointed, only blessed with this amazing read."

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book to Keep Close at Hand November 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm a year into a new job that doesn't feel any less stressful today than it did a year ago. Recently picked up this book, and it feels like a life preserver thrown out to me in the midst of a storm. I love it! It's divided into small, well-connected chapters so I can pick it up and open to the topic I feel I need most. It's not a devotional, but it uses God's word and the author's insight to encourage and guide. It has reminded me of things I remember hearing from the Bible before but didn't connect to my work life, and it also has many new applications of Scripture I'd never thought of before. I'm keeping it close by!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Outstanding Read November 11, 2013
Format:Paperback
God's Career Guide: Practical Insights for the Workplace Christian by Patrick Layhee is an outstanding read for every Christian in the workplace and more...and applies to all Christians who desire to be blessed in their work life. From homemakers to CEO's and everything in between, this book gives, "A practical, Bible-based career guide that includes a helpful study guide to help enrich the lives of working Christians by applying God's Word to their jobs and careers." Full of encouragement and biblical principles, the author systematically goes through the Bible, beginning from Genesis, to give a full spectrum scope of correct biblical attitudes, beliefs and abilities that pertain to Christians in the marketplace and beyond. Within that, the author explains clearly that God created work and that work is an integral part of being blessed throughout life. Rich with Scripture, the author gives a biblical picture of what God had in mind when He created work, listing the top three priorities of life (God, family and work). Written with much positive affirmation derived from scripture, the author offers a biblical perspective on correct attitudes and viewpoints that offer very practical biblical applications for every Christian to assimilate into their lives and the workplace. This book offers an uplifting guide on day-to-day living in the workplace with a well-rounded understanding of the blessings involved when one fears the Lord and applies these principles to their life in the marketplace.

Written as a complete handbook and guide, the author covers every question, area and belief that one may have, including discussions of certain oppositions in the workplace. This book will aid in developing a healthy lifestyle in the workplace no matter what your job is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical and Encouraging Guide for all walks of life November 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Although the author's subtitle speaks to the workplace Christian, this book is practical for anyone and everyone no matter if we work at home as a domestic engineer, or as an astronaut in space.

Layhee shares about work from Why work is good and necessary, to How to be a good and helpful laborer, to the gentle lifestyle witness of natural faith because of Who we ultimately belong to. I've not always had great work experiences, and I believe that if I'd had this guide earlier, I might have been encouraged to keep with some of the jobs I really liked, but had trouble dealing with the workplace environment.

I recommend this especially to small groups, both groups of people who are job seekers as well as those who are perfectly satisfied with their careers. The author includes specific directions about how to start discussion groups in the back of the book.

Using Biblical stories and characters such as Solomon, Zaccheus, and Deborah, Layhee shows how these people handled very difficult situations and applies these timeless principles to us today.

3.0 out of 5 stars somewhat dis-appointed January 7, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
prior to ordering the book, I was receiving their newsfeed on my facebook page, and found them very interesting and useful, so I decided to order the book, what I discovered was the newfeed and the book are not exactly the same, I still have the newsfeed on facebook page and still find them much more useful.

when I contacted amazon about returning the book, they were extremely nice and helpful, they gave me a full refund including the shipping cost and still allowed me to keep the book, which I though was very generous on their part.

so while the book was not exactly what I was expecting, the excellent service from amazon was, a big thank you to amazons customer service department, I am one very satisfied customer.

This book was very helpful to me. Filled with Scripture, well-organized, written in a way that makes it easy for the reader to access the material in depth, or to get a reminder of key principles in quick doses.
This book answers one of life's most important questions: Do I matter? By showing the value of performing even the most humble tasks with diligence and integrity, the author demonstrates how everyone can know that their work has made a difference.
For Christians, the scriptural references are a clear anchor. By doing our work for the Lord, none of our work is in vain.
But the timeless principles discussed in the book work for anyone, and will enhance anyone's job performance and prospects for career success.
I'd recommend this book to any family member, colleague, or client.

Still reading, this book is a great read. In it you find a lot of small things that have not crossed your mind just by reading the Bible, but as you read this book a lot of things just jump out at you that we just overlook in life or take for granted. It is a very easy read; yes recommend it to others. Book arrived as expected in great condition and on time; it will make a great gift.
