I am finally losing fat! I found this book one afternoon in a bookstore just when I was at the end of my dieting rope...frustrated in the fact that I was trying to change my diet, but not getting anywhere in the fat loss department. I tried low carb, low sugar (which are both good, just not the total answer for me), and other approaches, although still eating some...

2.0 out of 5 stars Misinformed
Unfortunately the author is very new to nutrition and health and even a full awareness of the Bible (since it is supposed to be "God's Diet"). First of all, it is rather sad that the emphasis is on weight loss, with very little awareness of the health implications of a wrong diet. If you eat healthy, you will lose weight, but the benefits of good health are so much...

I am finally losing fat! I found this book one afternoon in a bookstore just when I was at the end of my dieting rope...frustrated in the fact that I was trying to change my diet, but not getting anywhere in the fat loss department. I tried low carb, low sugar (which are both good, just not the total answer for me), and other approaches, although still eating some whole grain breads and crackers and other whole grain, but man made products. After much prayer, I found this book and I am now losing fat steadily after removing these whole grain-but man made items. I eat balanced meals, I'm never hungry, have lots of energy and I'm finally sleeping well! God's Diet is easy to shop and cook on, and easy to stay on for my busy soccer mom schedule. I have found my answer....and God in His wisdom knew what to do all the time!

5.0 out of 5 stars It Really Works!!, October 19, 2003
By
This review is from: God's Diet: A Short & Simple Way to Eat Naturally, Lose Weight, and Live a Healthier Life (Paperback)
I woke up one day and stepped on the scale and when it showed that I was closely approaching 200 lbs, it scared me to death. I knew I had to do something. I had never started any diets because all of them restricted what I could eat and most were made up of vegetables which I hate. I went online and read into the Atkin's Diet. I took a quiz on their site which told me that I was addicted to Carbs and Sugar and it was affecting my health, my well being and my sanity. I went to the library but I couldn't find the Atkins book. The title, "God's Diet" caught my attention. I decided a little help from up above couldn't hurt and I took it home. When I read it I was happy that it wasn't filled with bible quotes and that it was easy to read. I read more into it and I was surprised at how I was poisoning my body with all the chemicals in processed foods. I said, That's it, I am not eating any of that stuff ever again. That was in April 2003. It is now October and I am still following the diet. Exactly 6 months later and I feel awesome. I have lost almost 50 pounds and 6 pant sizes. No joking! I don't care about how she's not following the bible. I am a Catholic who attends church weekly. God is my friend. He has helped me so much and I know that it was He who put this book in front of me at the library. I don't need anyone to tell me what I should and should not eat. All I needed was a little advice. Everyone in my family has told me how proud they are of me and how there is no way they could give up bread and pasta and soda. I tell them that it is easy when you can have steak and mashed potatoes and eggs. It doesn't feel like you are suffering. I have not been hungry once. I eat brown rice, chicken, potatoes, eggs, bacon, beef, salad, all kinds of fruits, beans and nuts. I can have seafood I just don't like it. I ended up purchasing the book because of all the people who kept asking me to borrow it. I feel like a walking advertisement. I am still not at my ideal weight but I know that I can be there and soon. All I need to do is continue the diet and exercise and drink lots of water. I feel that this is something that I can continue for the rest of my life. I used to be addicted to things like Oreos and Ice Cream and Chocolate. Now I am addicted to sunflower seeds, and peanuts and grapes. Those are my munchies now. There is no portion control with this diet. As long as you follow the principle, "If God Didn't make it, then don't eat it!" you will be fine. This book is a little pricey for its size but I highly recommend it. If you don't want to purchase it then look for it in the library. It is so easy that all you need to do is read through it once and you won't have to read it again. One thing that helped a lot was some advice that was in the book, if someone offers you a food that you know you can't have, don't say, " I can't eat that." instead say "I don't eat that anymore." There is a big difference. I have to admit that it was hard at first especially since I live with 6 other people and none of them are following it with me. If you just believe in yourself you can do this too. Another thing, I lost 50 pounds without exercise! Yes you read that right, NO EXERCISE!! Even though the author does recommend exercise, I just never got around to it and I still lost weight. I just recently started doing sit ups and crunches so that I can get rid of my sagging belly. So I am just going to try and tone up but the diet gets rid of everything else. I look at my before and after pictures and I am amazed that that person was me.

4.0 out of 5 stars God's Diet Works, February 11, 2001
God's Diet is the shortest, easiest and most absorbable book I have read on the subject of weight loss. If you need to make a production out of weight loss by counting points, weighing food or combining foods then save your money. This plan is so simple and makes so much sense you will wonder how weight loss ever got to be so complicated.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works!, June 3, 2000
I've lost 50 pounds in 5 months. What else can I say? (I only gave it 4 stars because Dr. G's writing is not that good.) But the diet itself is incredible. This is something that can easily be a lifelong nutritional plan, with a full variety of fruit, vegetables and meats. And it's so simple it could almost go onto a single page. It worked for me, so maybe it will for you, too. Give it a shot.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ungarbled Word on Weight-Control, March 24, 2000
By
Gilvin Claypool (Livermore, Ca. USA) - See all my reviews
In a clear, concise, and very readable way, Dr. Dorothy has presented a compelling argument for discarding the complexities and impracticalities of modern diet regimens in favor of a far simpler and more logical approach to weight-control.

Instead of relying on a rigid program of counting calories and measuring meal portions from certain food groups in specific rotations and sequences, the Dr. has outlined a simple program based essentially on that practice which has been in use with only minor variations from ancient times up to WWII, during which time food has been obtained primarily by hunting, fishing, and gathering from fields, farms, and ranches. The only processing this food underwent was to manually prepare it for cooking.

Dr. Dorothy admits that her program is not for everyone but for the very large majority, it works well with little or no alterations. Another big plus for this program is that the only tools one needs to implement it are firstly, a bit of caution; secondly, a lot of common sense; and lastly, within reasonable limits, a steadfast adherence to the guiding principle which is the motto of this booklet: " If God didn't make it__don't eat it!"

4.0 out of 5 stars It Works!, April 11, 2002

I recently purchased the book - God's Diet: A Short and Simple Way... I lost 20 pounds in two months. I am still on the "diet". I put that in quotations, because I don't consider it to be a diet, but a lifestyle change. People have commented on my weight loss every where I go. I have sold more copies of Dr. Dorothy's book than I can imagine. I loved the recipes and the case studies. My self esteem has gone through the roof, and it was all very easy. It makes great sense to eat this way. Thanks, Dr. Dorothy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth a try, June 13, 2001

This review is from: God's Diet: A Short & Simple Way to Eat Naturally, Lose Weight, and Live a Healthier Life (Paperback)
I started this diet last month and in five weeks have lost 18 lbs. I feel great and am looking better everyday, and I haven't even started exercising yet. This diet is simple, there is no food weighing or calorie counting. A different title may have been more appropriate (as many people seem to be offended or turned off by the title, judging from previous reviews), but fortunately I was able to get past the title and give it an honest try. It is much healthier than I had been eating and, unlike a fad diet, does not totally eliminate or severely limit any food group. It's very easy when used as a guide to develop a balanced and satisfying eating plan. It's not dependent upon expensive prepared foods or even costlier supplements but it's certainly working for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short, Simple, Healthy AND Effective!!, August 16, 2003

This review is from: God's Diet: A Short & Simple Way to Eat Naturally, Lose Weight, and Live a Healthier Life (Paperback)
I was looking for a simple, doable and healthy eating regimen that I could follow for the rest of my life. This is IT!

God's Diet is easily summed up in less than 20 words. 'If God made it, you can eat it. No sugar, no white flour, low salt and no fried foods.' Dr. Gault-McNemee explains the medical rationale for each facet of the simple plan in plain English, and it just makes good sense. The program allows you to eat all of the meat, fruit, and vegetables you want.

This book is not based on Bible law. It is called "God's Diet" to acknowledge God as the Creator of all things natural and healthy for human consumption.

I've been on the plan for about six weeks and have lost ten pounds without ever feeling hungry or seriously deprived. The program WORKS! Best of all, I've never felt better!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT DIET, June 30, 2002
AFTER READING ALL THESE PEOPLE'S REVIEWS, I JUST HAD TO WRITE ONE!Yes, in the garden of Eden Man did not eat the flesh of animals, BUT, GOD did create the other animals and humans are NOT in the Garden of Eden anymore!Everyone get over your problems with the Bible! No wonder we were kicked out! This way of eating is the easiest and affordable way of getting healthy, and .......losing weight!God created the animals and we use them for meat, or did we forget that he sent wave after wave of game birds to moses and the jews while they were wandering in the desert for 70 years., they also ate manna, for those who are going to dispute this review. I've read it four times. God sent us meat to eat.............This diet is for people who want an answer to their weight loss problem. It is not a fast solution, but people will eventually reach their goals.
