"Hallo Spaceboy", January 23, 2008
Pagan's Mind deliver another strong effort. This moves forward with a little more of the melodic than the crunch, although there is plenty of crunch to enjoy. The band certainly seems to be getting tighter in their performance and unique chemistry.
One thing stands out to me on this disc is an outstanding effort on vocal variety. The singer sounds like a combination of Geoff Tate, David Coverdale (believe it or not, if you listen closely you'll hear some Coverdale moments), and David Bowie - on the Bowie cover "Hallo Spaceboy." - a song which I have never heard before. Not only did I enjoy their version of the song, I also consider it one of the disc's highlights. The singing is somewhat Bowie-ish, only far better. Overall the singing on this album has hit a much higher level than their previous releases.
One weak point is the mix. For the most part everything sounds good, except I like to be able to hear each instrument without having to strain. On this disc, the Bass playing is difficult to pick out. The exception to this is on the bonus disc. The live cut and the studio demo's all are good with each instrument easily heard. If you are planning on buying this release, I recommend you get the Limited Edition - the extra songs are well worth it.
Bottom line, this is a high quality, very enjoyable progressive metal release.

Some rockin' metal!, March 16, 2008
I'm new to this band & I'm surprised to see that 1 reviewer gave this album a 2 star rating based on "taste" & not whether it's actually good or bad. If you ask me that's really not a fair review if you are going to give a CD a bad review but at the same time say "I cant say this is a good/bad CD." You should rate a CD based on it's overall sound, production, etc & give it a rating based on those factors. If you are going to give something a bad rating, please have a valid reason to back it up then at least the rating will be understandable. Everybody has different tastes, but hell even I've been given higher ratings to CDs if they at least were decent in certain ways. It would take a REALLY BAD CD in just about everyway in order for me to TRULY give it a bad rating & say it is not my "taste." Anyway this is a great power metal/progressive CD by Pagan's Mind....great rockin' songs, trademark sounds of the genres, well produced, & beautiful as well. In fact, it is their BEST album to date. I'm hooked!

Review of God's Equation by Pagan's Mind, October 18, 2008
I am a big Pagan's Mind fan since hearing Celestial Entrance. I loved every cut on this CD from the first listen to this day. The next PM CD I bought was Infinity Divine, which was a disappointment. I thought the next CD, Enigmatic: Calling was a huge step forward, with no weaknesses, but I doubted that PM could do it again. Well, I will tell you that God's Equation by Pagan's Mind is AWESOME, but not quite up to the same level as Celestial Entrance or Enigmatic: Calling. The highlights of the CD are God's Equation and United Alliance. These 2 songs are on my list of top 100 cuts of all time. They rank up there with cuts from Rush, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Fates Warning, Kamelot, etc. God's Equation takes Pagan's Mind to a new level with amazing tempo changes, heavy riffs, stellar synths, and superb guitar solos (especially on Painted Skies). On the down side, I could do without the Bowie cover, Hallo Spaceboy. Alien Kamikazi is intense at times (like 30 sec into the ending) and boring at other times. Spirit Starcruiser is fun to listen to, rocking between different tempos, and I like the last minute and a half of the tune (catchy riff). Farewell is a mellow instrumental piece that ties back to the opening cut (The Conception). Osiris' Triumphant Return brings back themes from Enigmatic: Calling. Very well done piece. I look forward to PM's next project.
