About the Author

Dr. Ray C. Stedman (1917-1992) grew up in the rugged cowboy country of Montana. Abandoned by his father when he was a young boy and emotionally cut-off from his mother, Ray had a ruggedly independent upbringing. Yet, through faith, he matured into one the great pastors, expositors, and spiritual leaders of the twentieth century. Todays church is filled with pastors and leadersmen like David Roper, Charles Swindoll, and Luis Palauwho consider him their mentor and lifelong friend. Ray was a mans man, who ended up being the father of four daughters. He and his family lived through the turbulent era of the 1960s and the Jesus Movement, a time of turmoil and heartache for Ray and his wife, Elaine, and a remarkable time of growth and expansion in his own ministry. Biblical teaching (exposition) was Rays calling and his passion, and he motivated people by the power of the preaching of the Word of God. He also inspired and taught many through the written word. With over nineteen books to his credit, from Spiritual Warfare to his insightful commentary Adventuring Through the Bible, Stedmans published works span the experiences of Christian life, including Body Life, a book that had tremendous impact on the church in the twentieth century. More About the Author

Ray Stedman (1917-1992) pastor, teacher, author and well-known Bible expositor. A graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, Ray Stedman authored numerous books including other Joy of Living studies: Psalms of Faith, Psalms from the Heart, Nehemiah, Job, Gospel of Mark, Romans, Ephesians and Revelation. Ray served 40 years as pastor of the Peninsula Bible Church in Palo Alto, California, before retiring in 1990.

Based on expository sermons preached late in his life, Ray Stedman's commentary on the Book of the Revelation is clear and easy to read from start to finish. Ray had a simple style of speaking, yet he dispensed profound truth at many levels--something for everyone in the audience, whether new Christian or older. Ray's understanding of time and eternity, of the visible and invisible dimensions of reality, shines through with clarity. Thoroughly orthodox--premill, pretrib, with startling fresh insights. Superb editing by James Denney. This is Number One on my full shelf of commentaries on the Apocalypse.

I found this book to be quite good. Ray Stedman has a great understanding of Revelation. I especially liked the chapters regarding the seven churches. They contained a wealth of information.
I had to downgrade it to four stars because of one area I sharply disagreed with him on. He says the 24 elders represent angels, not the church. I disagree. And the scriptures he uses to back up his claim do not support his view. Other than that I highly recommend the book.

This book is very good and giving a clear understanding of revelations. I kept it for my library. I have used it for my personal use and also taught it to the youth in Sunday School. It makes revelations easy to understand and is very interesting and well written.
