I have never read a roller coaster thriller like this before. Well researched and masterfully woven, this novel by John Lyman will glue you to your seat then have you hanging on with your fingernails as you take that unexpected hairpin turn. The struggle between good and evil is not contrived as in many popular thriller novels produced within the past 5-10 years. The manner in which protagonist, Leopold Amodeo (Leo) is presented, leading his band of Lions through the discovery of and confrontation with the antagonist is done with expert craftsmanship. The characters are believeable and vulnerable, not superhuman and all-knowing, which aids in making the novel much more approachable for the reader.
Since I work during the day, I would lay in bed reading at night, grab my husband's arm and with an "oh my gosh..." tell him about the next twist in the plot. From the prologue right though the last chapter this author had my attention. The epilogue left me wishing the book would never end. I can not wait for John's next book to be published!

I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the sequel to come out. It explored some themes I had not thought of. It was fast-paced and had good characters. I would like to see some of them more fully developed in the next book, like Lev, Ariella, and the Code Breaking team. I thought building in and telling the reader what each person's name meant was a great touch. It helped bring the story together. I don't usually write reviews for books, but I did for this one because I truly enjoyed reading it. Keep up the good work, Mr. Lyman, and thanks for the good read.

I often enjoy reading religious fiction, but don't enjoy the books with authors whom choose to debase my Christian faith. This was a great book that held my interest, and I really enjoyed it. I'm hoping to this author will have another title out soon. I was really glad it was available through Kindle.

Loved it, loved it, loved it. Supernatural, action, adventure and great characters make this book a winner. And you can't beat the price. It was so much more than I expected. I was highly entertained and I learned a few things. I hope to see another novel soon from this author.

When John Lyman sent me the the book pitch, what caught my attention was that this book contained the theme of codes in the Torah. Intrigued, I couldn't turn down this book. What I liked about this book was the vivid portrayal of some scenes, especially the scenes involving spiritual encounters. I could easily picture those scenes and I shuddered at just thought of them. I also liked the way this book reinforces that Scripture is God-breathed and everything happens for a reason. However, this book is not without its faults. The narration was awkward at a few parts, especially the parts where similes were used. I also found it unthinkable that a priest could exclaim "Oh, my God." I don't come from a Catholic background, I come from a Protestant background. And I can't imagine any of the pastors I know exclaiming "Oh, my God." That would be viewed as sacrilegious. I completed God's Lions: The Secret Chapel with mixed feelings. I loved the vivid descriptions and will definitely pick this book up when I want to read a horror story, but I felt that the narration could have been better.

Hooked. I was immediately hooked.
Reviews often use words like suspenseful, thrilling, gripping, superbly written. What other words could possibly describe John Lyman's GOD'S LIONS, The Secret Chapel? Romance, intrigue, changes, fierce encounters with demon forces, the unexpected happens only to be followed by further unexpected twists.
Depending on your ecclesiastical and theological convictions, the action of the book, while reaching deeply into the murky waters of biblical spiritual warfare, rushes on through the conflicts of today's world events towards the tribulation years of the book of Revelation.
Not since C. S. Lewis' ink pen dried have I enjoyed such rich, stimulating biblical content found in this well researched and intriguing story line. The book is totally captivating from the first page through each momentous event, until I turned the last page and stared at the publisher's blank page. There the fascinating drama hung in my mind. More, more, more.
The story, complete in itself, satisfied the adventure - and yet .... Yet, the last pages hinted of things to come as we know there surely must be. And so we eagerly await The Secret Chapel's sequel.
Make it soon, John. Make it soon.
Ed Underwood,
Senior pastor of four successive Evangelical Free Churches.

"God's Lions" is one of those books that not only makes you think, but entertains you with a wonderful story at the same time. You know it's good when you put it down and go about your everyday life and the characters are still in your thoughts. I've read that there are two kinds of fiction - plot driven and character driven. I would have to say that this novel is both. The story by itself is fascinating, and the plot is obviously the work of a master storyteller. However, the characters are so real that you feel you know them, and finishing the book is actually painful. You are forced to close contact with a group of people you have come to know and love. I may have to read it again until the sequel comes out.
