The translator's preface tells us that this book is derived from a conference held in Shanghai, China in 1934. We are blessed that the content of that conference has been perserved for our edification. Nee begins by reminding us that "God works with a definite goal in mind" (p. 4). A few pages later (p. 19) he explaining Romans 8:20, i.e., "the whole creation was subjected to vanity" after the rebellion of satan, we're told "'vanity' means failure of the result designed, losing the original purpose, having no more direction." The whole point of the book is to point people in the direction of God, the Creator's purpose for them. It is an encouraging read.

Everything can be explained when we know what God wants.

Wait until you see how important your role is in the days to come! Very interesting and informative book. Makes you feel good to have God "on your side."

I highly, highly recommend it. Written from a series of meetings conducted by Watchman Nee in the 1930's, he clearly defines, through scripture, the mission of the church and those who have been called to lead the way through the Jordan. You can't read this book without feeling hope, love and what it means to overcome the world through our deepening relationship with Jesus Christ, and without having a clear vision of what that means in our daily lives.
