An easy way to help young girls see God's promises and how they can rely on His love in their daily lives.

The promise verses in this book are selected from the best-selling International Children's Bible® to offer comfort and encouragement when a girl is feeling afraid, lonely, worried, angry, dissatisfied, discouraged, sad, rebellious, impatient, or sick . . . and when they need reassurance of God's protection, love, forgiveness, help . . . and that He listens when they pray. It's a great way for children to hide God's Word in their hearts.

Sample text: Monsters. Spiders. Being alone. Do any of these things make you feel afraid? When you start to feel fear, hold on tight to these words: God promises to take your fear away!

"So don't worry, because I am with you. Don't be afraid, because I am your God. I will make you strong and will help you. I will support you with my right hand that saves you." Isaiah 41:10

I loved this book. As a kindergarten teacher, I feel that it's right on traget for the 5 -12 year old range. I passed my copy to a former student and she loves it!! If you are looking for a great devotional book for a young girl, run to your local bookstore and buy one today!!

I received this book from Thomas Nelson's BookSneeze program, and don't worry, they didn't make me write a good review in exchange for the free book!

As my girls get older, we're on the hunt for little devotions, short enough for a preschooler's attention span. (right now, we're lucky to have about 4 minutes :))

We've been so blessed by God's Promises for Girls, by Jack Countryman and Amy Parker. A perfect book that grows with your daughter or little girlie in your life. The book is divided into sections like "God Wants You To..." and "God's Promises about Making a Difference..." that each have little poems and Bible verses included. Here are some of my favorites:

God's Promises About... Serving Others

"Share a doll, show the new girl around,

Bake brownies and take them next door;

Serving and helping others in love

Is what God created you for!"

God's Promises When... You Are Happy

"Hooray! It's a wonderful day!

Picking daisies is oh, so fun...

There is always a reason to be happy,

When you're living for Jesus the Son!"

What a wonderful little book of treasures! What about the lovely boys in your life? Don't worry, the authors put together God's Promises for Boys too!! There's also a whole bunch of God's Promises books... I received a God's Promises for Graduates when I graduated, and it still offers me encouragement many years after the diploma!

Pick up a copy today! You won't be disappointed, and you might even find treasures for yourself!

"We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him."

I recently had the opportunity to review God's Promises for Girls through Thomas Nelson's Book Sneeze reviewer program. The book is comprised of inspirational Bible verses for various moods, for just about every aspect of a young girls life, and to bring comfort and understanding about the wonderful promises God makes to all of us for our salvation. For each grouping of scripture, a cute little inspirational message is included. Every section has an adorable illustration that goes along with the inspirational message.

The Bible verses in this book are taken from the International Children's Bible. The Bible verses from this translation are in modern English and will be easy for young readers to grasp. This translation is not Catholic, but I found nothing in this book that was contrary to Catholic teaching. If I had, I wouldn't have passed it on to my daughters.

My children, ages 8 1/2 and nearly 5, like this book. The youngest child likes looking at the adorable and very vibrant illustrations. Think modern Precious moments with bold colors. My 8 1/2 year old daughter read a few sections of the books and thought it was very nice. So I'd say it gets the little girl seal of approval.

This book would make a nice gift for a little girl. There's a dedication page in this book that makes it perfect for gift giving.

God's Promises for Girls by Jack Countryman and Amy Parker

Mr. Countryman and Amy Parker have taken various topics/situations and selected Scripture to be an encouragement and comfort to the young girls. Topics mentioned are feeling sad, lonely, afraid, etc and God's protection, love and forgiveness. Here is a sample text:

Monsters.

There are two or three Scripture selections for each topic, along with a little rhyme at the top of each page. The illustrations are charming and my younger ones have looked at it over and over again. Since my 6 and under can't fluently read, I used my 10 and 11 year old girls as "test readers". My 11 year old thought it was nice but wasn't overly impressed. She felt it was a bit youngish for her in looks and presentation. My 10 year old has enjoyed it. She likes how it is organized and she can easily find Scripture that fits a situation.

Personally, it isn't a book I'd buy. I'm not big on the "God's Promises" type of books. I think of them as gift books; you know, ones that Sunday School teachers get for their classes. And there is nothing wrong with that. Just not my cup of tea. I prefer that my children learn to use the concordance to search the Word for Scripture that applies to difficult situations.
