4.0 out of 5 stars Very Annointed
I have to say that KIrk's album has blessed me during some of the darkest days of my life. This album has restored my joy many times in the last few months. Kirk has been ridiculed about his success in his style. I feel it works, and his music makes me feel good in the Lord. As Larry Norman once said, "Why should the devil get all the good music"? God...

3.0 out of 5 stars Everyone Needs To Stop Trying To Be Billie Holiday
I respect KF's attempts to merge gospel with popular hip-hop and I fully encourage it, but much of it does not work on this album. The album's worst offense is that nearly every soloist thinks they are a jazz/blues singer -- singing with a sort of loose-jawed nonchalance. Their goal, presumably, is to make it sound easy and unforced. The result is it is often...

5.0 out of 5 stars Revolution Before "Revolution.", April 25, 2006
This review is from: God's Property From Kirk Franklin's Nu Nation (Audio CD)
When the single "Stomp" was released on radio and debuted on MTV, controversy loomed over the heads of Kirk Franklin and God's Property, the Texas-based young adult gospel choir. What people failed to realize was that this song was a sigh of relief for everyone in gospel music. It inspired a new and youthful Christian audience and no artist or any album created before it in the history of gospel music had sold anywhere close to 3 million records. Regardless of the album sales, although 1997 would prove to be a successful and even tumultuous year for both Kirk Franklin and God's Property, the album does what most gospel recordings are supposed to do; edify God and create an awesome atmosphere of praise & worship. It's a phenomenal record and one of Kirk Franklin's greatest projects ever produced. There is so much depth on this album. The sound quality is outstanding, God's Property has powerful voices, the vocal & musical arrangements are essential and the spirit of this album is revolutionary. This album was also bolstered by the audio sweetening of Mark Williams & Kevin Bond and guided by production duo Buster & Shavoni, who produced with Kirk Franklin on the "Whatcha Lookin' 4" album. Not only did Kirk write and produce 9 of the 13 songs presented but also got some help from G.P. members Greg Brown, Larron Vaughn, Myron Butler, (before introducing Levi) & Robert "Sput" Searight (producer/keyboardist/percussionist) with writing expertise. The most anointed songs are "More Than I Can Bear," the harmonious "Love," the funk-filled "Up Above My Head," "Sweet Spirit," "It's Raining," [both songs feature Caltomeesh "Candy" West's sensational jazzy vocal style] "So Good," "My Life Is In Your Hands," (which also appears on Spike Lee's "Get On The Bus" movie soundtrack) the sincere "He'll Take The Pain Away," and the tear-shedding "The Storm Is Over Now." In 1998, G.P. won some major accolades for this record and finished the year with 8 million more copies sold before the release of "The Nu Nation Project," another Kirk Franklin commercial masterpiece. We miss you, G.P.!! For 2 solid years, God's Property made a statement and opened another door that will never be shut in gospel music!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good mixture..., December 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: God's Property From Kirk Franklin's Nu Nation (Audio CD)
This CD has a good mixture of slow, peaceful songs, and fast, "get-up-and-dance" songs. Some of these songs have really helped me a lot when I'm troubled: "More Than I Can Bear" reminds me that he'll never give me too much to take on, no matter how hard it seems... "Faith" reminds me to "keep the faith" and that will help you be strong... And the all-time favorite, "Stomp!" is awesome for youth rallies and stuff! Everyone I know loves that song. I especially recommend this CD if you're a youth leader and you're looking for some rowdy music that teenagers love. But don't rely on just this CD, because there are only so many fast songs on here that you can get tired of after the first several times.

I love this CD! the songs are so uplifting and encouraging, and have helped me through a lot of hard times by reminding me to look to God. My Life is in Your Hands and More than I Can Bear are especially uplifting. Kirk Franklin does a great job reaching out to and ministering to young people, and I would recommend this CD to anyone.

I wake up every moring listening to the inspirational hymns of "More Than I Can Bare", "It's Raining", and "The Storm Is Over Now". I recommend this album to any and everyone. 5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT, GREAT, GREAT!!!, February 13, 2004

This is the album that made me fall in love with this guy in the first place. His earlier recordings I heard much later. Everyone can remember when Stomp hit our tv screens and poured out of our speakers! It was on rotation for weeks and still is! I love the remix but I think the original one is the best, great chord progression. My Life Is In Your Hands is another classic which gets you worshipping God. Love is one HEAVY jazz piece and the harmonies at the end are just INCREDIBLE!! Very simple instrumentation/message but not easliy forgotten. Sweet Spirit....BIG TUNE!!! Anytime I'm stressed I just put it on and it calms me straight away. The only thing I don't like is the end when "excitement" takes over, spoils it for me. More Than I Can Bare, lovely song. You Are The Only One is one tune to get down with! And So Good is another great track. I have a feeling I've left some other tunes out but that's all I can remember off-head. But anyway great album, another all-rounder. Get this without a doubt.

5.0 out of 5 stars moves you to smile, cry, and be filled with the spirit, July 23, 1999

There is no way to be down when you listen to this music. It lifts you up and reminds you of what is truly important in life. When I have had a really bad day, I listen to this CD and am instantly transformed. My favorite song is My Life Is In Your Hands. You cannot sit down and listen to this music! If you are driving you will be dancing in the seat...If you have someone that you are ministering to that is having a hard time with life, play this for them...you may be very surprised at the result. My husband prayed to Jesus after listening to only 2 songs.

I thank God for musical composers like Kirk Franklin. In the current year 2000 I can listen and enjoy the album like i brought it yesterday. As a teenager it hard to stay focused and but with inspirational music like this album that address the issues we face it a little easy and teaches us to rely on our Lord and Savior ;Jesus Christ.
