5.0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece, August 8, 2004
This review is from: God's Righteous Kingdom (Paperback)
Here you will get all information needed for a basic knowledge of true grace and salvation, its fruits and signs, as well as a sure guidance against both antinomianism and selfrighteousness. Chantry's call for a restoration of the church while at the same time remaining doctrinally sound is both challenging and inspiring, and is a good and solid ground to stand upon and continue to go forward and onward with. This book is just as suitable for meat as for milk, for the established as for the unstable, for the elder as for the babe...In other words recommended, so buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars God's Kingdom-Gracious,Spiritual and Righteous, May 11, 2011

This review is from: God's Righteous Kingdom (Paperback)
Though th authors primary purpose in writing this book was probably to show the connection between the Law and the Gospel, I believe it has perhaps equal or greater value in setting forth the nature of 'The Kingdom Of God'.
In Matt.6:33 believers are exhorted to seek first the Kingdom Of God.Thus spiritual realities are given the highest priority for the people of God.Pastor Chantry gives us four of these spiritual commodities in the 2nd chapter 'The Spiritual Essence Of The Kingdom Of God':1)Communion with God is the most important of these goods "intimate communion with the most high God is itself the deepest want of the human heart and the highest dignity of human existence." To know the one true God are part of the spiritual riches that only those in God's Kingdom partake of.2)The 2nd spiritual staple is life. The great privilege of being an instrument in God's hands to help restore souls to the true worship of the triune God.The third and fourth spiritual goods of the Kingdom are truth and righteousness.(this is dealt with in detail in the 3rd section of the book chapters 6 though 11).
In the third chapter 'The Spiritual Progress and Operations of The Kingdom' the author emphasizes the point that the Kingdom Of God is not advanced by social and political activism but by holy lives, and faithful testimonies of God's people and the preaching of God's Word in the Spirit.
One of the great values of this book is Pastor Walter Chantry's correct Biblical emphasis on how God's people should value spiritual things far above temporal but without overlooking their temporal responsibilities. Two brief quotes should help prove this assertion:p.17 "If it is ever necessary to encourage Christians of a mystical tendency to meet earthly responsibilities,it must never be done by scorning their attraction to another world.Their devotion to heaven we must commend." p.18 "If at any time the prevailing emphasis of a teacher swerves from the pursuit of the world to come, back to following the things of this present earth, his ministry is not in accord with that of the Son of God."
Mr.Chantry gives us weighty Biblical reasoning as to why the moral law has not been abrogated but that Jesus kept it for His people and then laid down His life so that they might live. The law can no longer condemn them but is fulfilled in them as they walk in the Spirit. p.71"Even more,He fully discharged every requirement of the moral law to establish God's righteousness in pardoning sinners.Jesus died to satisfy the moral laws demands .His death forever establishes the inviolability of the moral law."
The author has a great grasp on the spiritual nature and priorities of God's Kingdom and how believers living in this world(but living for the world to come)need to hold them in proper Biblical balance(and place far more of their time and resources to advance 'The Kingdom Of God', thus to have their priorites Biblically patterned).
A careful reading of 'God's Righteous Kingdom' can help restore(assuming restoration is necessary)a sound Biblical perspective on how believers are to live in this world, like that which is set forth in Matthew 6:19-34 which clearly sets forth the priority believers should give (to The Kingdom of God as it relates to eternal and spiritual realiites versus temporal concerns).
