3.0 out of 5 stars well researched ,persuasive, and convincing book
David Frawley has categorically explained his arguments. His approach is lucid and clear. It is apparent that he has done a lot of research on this and I am glad there are scholars like him doing this kind of work. I believe anyone who is interested in understanding Ancient Indian history should read this book. Of course the idea proposed by him may seem controversial to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Life transforming book, September 30, 2002

This is an enormous work and very important too, and even though it is difficult to present to a "modern" mind David Frawley has done a great job. The work consists of understanding and interpreting the Vedas properly, which are almost 6-7 thousands years old if not more and are written in Vedic Sanskrit, which again is more complex to understand and interpret than regular Sanskrit. This is a book is very important from the point of ancient India's (true) history as well as is extremely important from the point of view of world's history as we understand today. It is a book that also provides the much-needed encouragement and foundation for anybody seeking a spiritual way of life.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must read book!, June 19, 2000

This review is from: Gods, Sages and Kings (Paperback)
This is an excellent book which I would reccommend strongly to anyone who is interested in Hinduism or the history of the Vedic Culture in general as it gives both traditional and historical accounts of events in ancient India as well as the significance behind Hindu ideals and deities, the greatness of India's Rich Rishis and Kings! All Traditionalist Hindus should keep a copy in their own homes as it gives Hindus inspiration and glory of their culture, which they should be proud of as David Frawley shows us!

I believe anyone who is interested in understanding Ancient Indian history should read this book. Of course the idea proposed by him may seem controversial to some, but it is well worth understanding his arguments..they are very substantial and have far reaching implications. Anyone who is interested in Indian history should read this interesting book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Arguments with off-screen critics, March 19, 2005

I so much wanted this book to be different than it is. I found it full of arguments with "classical" scholars with whom Frawley is in disagreement. I would have much preferred to hear what Frawley had to say on his own rather than enduring the constant and distracting jockeying for position with others' points of view. I was left feeling like the real conversation of the book is between the classical others and Frawley rather than between the author and me. I really wish it had been otherwise.
