Book Description

July 5, 2000
Mothering small children is exhausting and mind-numbing work. Just finding time to get dressed each day can be a challenge. So how can you possibly find time for God? Your need for God may be greatest at this time of life more than any other. You need God's wisdom, his guidance, and--most of all--his peace. You need to find ways to hear his still, small voice amid the whirlwind of diapers and feedings, first steps and first words, sore throats and skinned knees, playmates, broken toys, birthdays, big questions, and nightmares. In this book Keri Kent offers you encouragement and ideas from one who has been--and still is--in the middle of mothering twenty-four hours each day. Here you'll find a welcome companion on your daily quest to seek God and bring his peace into your heart and home.

Review

"Rare is the book I would call 'life-changing,' but God's Whisper in a Mother's Chaos qualifies for me. I remember the exact moment when I was reading the chapter on guilt and realized that all those little, seemingly insignificant things that I do for my family--things that no one notices or even knows about--matter to God. And rather than condemning me because I can't find thirty minutes every day for a quiet time, God is teaching me how to grow closer to him, i.e., how to be more like Jesus, in the midst of the chaos that is my life. I've a long way to go, but I have begun to look for Jesus in my daily life rather than see my responsibilities as a hindrance to my spiritual growth." (Theresa Grosh, MOPS Coordinator, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania )

5.0 out of 5 stars I hear God's Whisper in the Chaos, thanks to Keri Wyatt Kent, February 21, 2001

This review is from: God's Whisper in a Mother's Chaos: Bringing Peace Home (Paperback)
I wish I could express the magnitude of how Keri Wyatt Kent's book has influenced my life, and everyone else in my bible study group. We have been blessed repeatedly by her wise perspective on parenting young children. As I read the book, I kept on saying to myself..."that's me," "that's how I feel, I thought I was the only one..."

Keri has been so blessed to be able to write in such plain and understandable terms about such a confusing, crazy, guilt-ridden, lonely, time in a mother's life. Who knew that we didn't have to put our spiritual lives on hold while our children ruled our worlds!? God is there and wants to speak to us...how, you ask? As I've told everyone I know, READ THIS BOOK. Whether a Christian or not, this book will help you find meaning in motherhood.

God Bless Keri. I feel so blessed that she is also a bible study teacher at my church, and I just keep on getting blessed by her God-given wisdom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you Keri Wyatt Kent!, August 21, 2000

This review is from: God's Whisper in a Mother's Chaos: Bringing Peace Home (Paperback)
Regardless of the title, this is not just a book for mothers. I found myself reading sections to my husband and my children (ages 16,13 and 11) - and they too enjoyed it. This is a book for anyone who has ever found themselves feeling overwhelmed by the everyday things that can clutter our lives. We are all so busy with this everyday chaos that we don't make time for what's most important - our own spiritual wellness. This is a very thought provoking, enjoyable read. I found myself nodding my head in agreement as I turned each page - wishing the pages wouldn't end. Thank you Keri Wyatt Kent for sharing your chaos and pointing out just how important the whisper can be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kent shout's her message in "God's Whisper..", October 14, 2000
This review is from: God's Whisper in a Mother's Chaos: Bringing Peace Home (Paperback)
Keri Wyatt Kent's book, God's Whisper in a Mother's Chaos, hits moms where we live. She is painfully honest and lets us share in her perceived failings so that we may learn the importance of stopping, in the midst of motherloads of chaos, to hear God's gentle whisper of acceptance and love. We are reminded that by our own standards we will never measure up, and that times of solitude and silence are often the best gift we can give our children and ourselves. Wonderful encouragement for mothers of any stage.
