4.0 out of 5 stars Meh
i've seen some bashings of this book, and that's what made me hesitate about buying it. i did get a scanned version of it, read it and i must say: it is a remarkable comic book. it did exagerate facts in kurt's life, yes, but it isn't supposed to be accurate, it's not a bio, it's a comic. i did love it. excellent graphic work and, well, the way it was written is preety...

1.0 out of 5 stars Kurt is rolling in his grave...
Wow. Never before have I seen such a ham-fisted, inept and downright exploitive depiction of one man's life - in ANY medium. It would almost make me angry, if the results weren't so unintentionally hysterical.

The writing is absolutely atrocious. It feels like some bad "made-for-TV" movie. The art is so unbelievably over-the-top, it feels like self-parody...

5.0 out of 5 stars Check it out for yourself, February 23, 2004
This review is from: Godspeed: The Kurt Cobain Graphic (Paperback)
Suggest you first check out Flameboy's (the artist's) page at his website http://www.flameboycomics.com/News2.html. This provides a bit of background to how and why 'Godspeed' was created.

You can also email Flameboy your comments and feedback at his site.

I think he sums it up when he says that Godspeed isn't meant to be the last word on Cobain's life - it's just another take on it. No offence to Kimberley.

For me, Godspeed is well worth the read. The art is great, and the story is interesting and moving, whether you're a Cobain/Nirvana fan or not.

I thought that this book was very good. It had great pictures, and really focused on Kurt Cobain's point of view! I really recommend reading it! I read this more than five times! That is how good this book is!

Sadly, this book only succeeds in making a joke out of someone's life...and given all the recent Cobain cash-ins, that's saying an awful lot.

Like in the last responce, that first letter is fake. i wanted to make sure they both werent fake. but any way kurts name was 'kurt D. Cobain' that no siblings of his had the same initials. but anyway the book is good. it is just a comic so dont listen to these other people i liked it and im a VERY big kurt cobain fan. this did not seem like it offended kurt cobain, it just exagerated the truth...alot

5.0 out of 5 stars A fitting tribute..., November 9, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Godspeed: The Kurt Cobain Graphic (Paperback)
I've always felt that graphic novels have the ability to bring a story to life like no other medium possibly can - and Godspeed is no exception. Whether you're a first-timer to the comic book genre, or an avid collector, you won't be disappointed with Flameboy et al's exceptional first graphic.

The responsibility was heavy, but these guys shouldn't let any fans down. Whatever your take on how Cobain's life ended, the graphic stands alone as a respectful and fitting tribute.

Godspeed is as unique and powerful as Cobain's life itself - the darkness and the pain, the joy and adulation, the vulnerability and self-loathing - it's all there, screaming at you with a sometimes eye-watering intensity from each brilliantly inked and cleverly penned page. Don't be fooled...these guys know their Cobain.

For me, Godspeed is more than a graphic - it's an experience, a journey...and a very fitting tribute to a talented, tortured genius.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kurt Cobain' what a legend, June 19, 2006
This review is from: Godspeed: The Kurt Cobain Graphic (Paperback)
This book is the perfect way to keep the spirit of Kurt Cobain alive. It is an amazing book, and everything that is written in this book is true of Cobain and his character, and the pictures and just breath taking..!! It talks about his life, the love he felt, how he suffered under the pressure of addiction, that eventuly led to his suicide. If someone is a Cobain fan, just interested in him, or simply can see beyond what they think they know about him, you should read this book. I recomend it!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars In Response to "Kimberly D. Cobain", May 29, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Godspeed: The Kurt Cobain Graphic (Paperback)
This book was great. Do not listen to Kimberly D. Cobain, she is a fake. She says that she was Kurt's half sister, while any dedicated Nirvana fan would know that Kim is Kurt's sister, not half-sister (They both had the same mother and father). So do not listen to her, and read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Work Of Art!, January 14, 2004
This review is from: Godspeed: The Kurt Cobain Graphic (Paperback)
This graphic book is very good, a real little work of art, the drawing are great, Courtney Love is draw very well, I am impressed. Frances Bean has a baby is not so well draw, she look a bit too old but appart from that all the sketchs and the little details put to this book are wonderful. The writting is not so great but it a graphic book not a real biography so it was ok. Putting Boddha was a very good idear. For any fan and even if your not a fan you will love this graphic book, Irecommand it to anyone.
