From viewing the movie,
This review is from: Godzilla 2000: Millennium (Audio CD)
I just came from the 2.20p.m (8/18)showing of Godzilla 2000.The kick back to the Classic Godzilla looks & music was great. The Music is a reprised of music from episodes of the orginal series. The sound & visual fx was equaly good. With in the first 15 minutes Godzilla attacks Japan. While the Goverment is tring to destroy him another civil group is tring to find ways to protect& study him .While Godzilla is on the move,a large rock emerges from the ocean. The rock turns out too be an alien craft. In the after math of the first battle scientise retreive a cell from Godzilla.Inadivable the space craft gains possion of this cell.It uses the cell too morph into a gaint Godzilla like monster. Then the one on one you expect from Godzilla movies occur. With dazziling fx & sound track it is a must see for all classic Godzilla fans.

Best Non-Ifukube Score,
By Nick Teng (Plainview, New York USA) - See all my reviews

The score to Godzilla 2000 was masterfully done. It is quite apparent that Maestro Hattori understands the legend that is Godzilla. This is one of the best non-Akira Ifukube G scores ever. It is unfortunate that Hattorui will not be conducting the score for the upcoming G flick "Godzilla vs. Mega-Guiras." Akira Ifukube should be very proud of Mr. Hattori.

The Best of Godzilla Music... Takayuki Hattori takes over!,
By Kyle Gilmore (Moran, Tx) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Godzilla 2000: Millennium (Audio CD)
In 1995, head Japanese music composer Akira Ifukube concluded his music career with "Godzilla vs. Destoroyah." Godzilla was supposed to end his as well, but he didn't. And now he is resurrected in "Godzilla 2000" (now in American theaters)! With Ifukube gone, the film seemed to have no hope for a good score. But now, Takayuki Hattori (composer of the score to "Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla") takes up Ifukube's place as number one! The score is amazing! In the first track you are introduced to the new Godzilla era with the film's main theme. From then on you are trapped in a world of monster music that no other composer can compare with! It is astounding! If you are big, and I mean BIG, fan of Ifukube's music, then you need to hear this score!

A lush score suitable for The King.,

If Akira Ifukube (whose driving Godzilla theme was added for the American release) can be considered the Japanese equal to John Williams, then Takayuki Hattori is its John Barry. Hattori made his Big G debut with a lush and beautiful sounding score for Godzilla versus SpaceGodzilla. His work on Godzilla 2000 Millenium is equally lush and beautiful, calling to memory some of Alan Silvestri's work on The Abyss (which this score is superior to). Sound effects (mainly the roars and snarls of the monsters as they duke it out) are an added treat. Recommended.

This was a great CD, but I think I could live without the songs on the CD with those people wailing. I love the Wonder of G revealed and Godzilla:Dreaded God. Orga;Irony of Fate is really good too. This CD is really good, even though most of the music isn't in the US released movie. This Cd is a must have, and has some really good songs

Not the best Godzilla soundtrack, but still very good.,

I saw the movie the day it came out and then went and bought the soundtrack. I escpecially like Godzilla's march and the Self Defense force music. I already have both "Best of Godzilla" CDs(which I highly recommend) and this is a perfect complement. You probably would see the movie before you bought the soundtrack but its a good buy even if you don't see the movie.

It's No Akira Ifukube Score,

Luckily, his Godzilla theme is in the movie and in the soundtrack. Hattori's last Godzilla score was G vs. SpaceGodzilla, which had some good parts, but wasn't that good overall. The action music was weak. While Hattori did improve his dramatic cues a lot, the action music is still pretty bad. Those are just a few tracks though, so I only took 1 star off. In the movie, it'll be drowned out by the explosions and roars so I doubt it'll hurt the movie. Also, there are some very good sound effects of the monsters and UFO in the movie. So overall, I liked the score because of the very good drama music, but not the action music.

A well-done Godzilla score,
This review is from: Godzilla 2000: Millennium (Audio CD)
One of the essential elements to a Godzilla movie is a rousing score, and Takayuki Hattori delivers a solid set of musical cues for "Godzilla 2000: Millennium." While I don't think "G2K" surpasses the best of the classic 'Zilla scores, this is still a very good CD.In the film, legendary giant monster Godzilla does battle against a mysterious UFO, and then against a vicious monster. Hatori's score captures the excitement of the big battle scenes, as well as the human drama that takes place in the shadows of these titanic clashes. Some of the best tracks on the CD include the opening track, which includes Godzilla's roar; the militaristic "The Self-Defense Force Swings into Action"; the gentle "The Wonder of G Revealed"; the exciting "Before the Explosion"; and the thrilling fanfare of "Millennium." Hattori sometimes uses choral voices and other elements for an ethereal effect; this is a good counterpoint to the frenzied brass and pounding percussion which accentuates the excitement level elsewhere. These two musical strategies are particularly well-combined in "The Encounter with the Mysterious Object." Overall, Hattori has done an admirable job of contributing to Godzilla's decades-old musical legacy.

Takayuki Hattori's first Godzilla score, G vs. SpaceGodzilla, had some good parts, but overall it lacked punch. The action music was flat, monotonous. Then there was some tinkly music for the human scenes which was awful. Luckily, Hattori has improved since then, but his big weakness is still present in the score for Godzilla 2000: Millennium: action music. Again it's boring and somewhat inappropriate for an action scene. Inches From Disaster is a good example of this. The Godzilla: Millennium theme is just okay, and it never really provokes the emotions that Ifukube's themes did. Luckily, Ifukube's main Godzilla theme is in the movie and on the CD. Hattori did do some great stuff in this score, though. The Wonder of G Revealed, Thinking of My Dad, and Giant UFO Approaching with its jungle drum beat at the begging are, in my opinion, the 3 best tracks on the CD. A lot of the other dramatic music is good too. The CD also includes some great effects of Godzilla, Orga, and the UFO. Overall, despite the pitiful action music, it's a good score.
