About the Artist
Transistor Rodeo is pure Americana. Not only does Transistor Rodeo write and perform catchy, heartfelt tunes, but the deliver them with an intensity and immediacy not often found in their genre. T.R. write intelligent songs with great, rootsy, pop hooks and thoughtful lyrics. Though they have been compared to other alt-country and twang rock acts, that only scratches the surface. Picture Hemmingway smothered in zesty southern bar-b-que sauce. The band began in 1996 as a writing project by founding members Bob Jordan (lead vocals and guitar) and Doug Goldberg (guitar). Bob & Doug penned tunes at breakneck speed and before long it was apparent that they would need a full band to complete their vision. At that point they recruited Tim Reeder (drums & vocals), Joe McClure (bass & vocals) and Judy Burke (violin & vocals) to round out the unit. The members of the band hail from all over the USA (Kentucky, Ohio, Delaware, Brooklyn, NY) but they all share a love of music that moves people and says something. The band finished their debut CD, Plastic Palomino in 1997 and started playing live shows around the Philadelphia area. T.R.s spirited live show and dusty heartfelt tunes started getting a lot of attention. Soon they were packing saloons and the CD was selling briskly. Bob & Doug continued writing all the while and in 1999 Transistor Rodeo recorded their follow-up CD White Trash Honeymoon. The CD, which was recorded in a barn with a budget of about 500 bucks, became the bands landmark work. The CD contains 10 songs that vacillate from straight ahead alt-country rock to soft California ballads while maintaining a strong continuity. Every song sounds like it belongs there. During the recording of White Trash Honeymoon the band signed a recording contract with A.I.R. Records, an independent, Philadelphia based label. White Trash Honeymoon was released in March 2000 and has enjoyed solid worldwide sales since its debut. The band has continued to perform live shows to a growing list of fans. They began work on a new CD Goin Out in Style to be released on June 6, 2006. In the mean time check out their live act and buy a copy of White Trash Honeymoon (it is the best record to date by any artist, of course). Youll be glad you did.
