Although this appears to be an EP of live tracks, it's almost at full album length, with a few unlisted songs crammed onto one of the tracks. Either way- this is M.I.'s official live cd. All the "hits" are here. This is essential to any Issue fan's collection, and it's become somewhat of a collector's item.
Vocalist, songwriter and M.I. leader Jim Ellison was on fire- all energy, total rock and roll, and the band was really firing on all cylinders that hot night in Chicago, at the Metro. The cover of Sweet's "Ballroom Blitz" is a great bonus and listening to this whole cd makes me really miss this great rock band. Also included is the studio version of "Goin' Through Your Purse" which features guest Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick on guitar.

Material Issue rocks, then and now.

I stumbled onto this CD while browsing a local CD dealer and initially assumed I was purchasing 4-5 live tracks for $5. I was pleasantly surprised to find 3-4 additional tracks on the CD, almost a full CD's worth, and to find all of the live tracks are vibrant and energetic and distinctive enough to stand on their own beside their studio versions. At the time of purchase (1994-1995), this was a bargain.

Unfortunately, the demise of the leader Jim Ellison and accordingly Material Issue, combined with their low sales volume, has resulted in all of their albums, including this one, going out of print. If you can find this one on the secondary market for $10 or less (or more if you're a hard-core MI fan), snap it up!

I was at work all day today and This band poped into my head. I spent all afternoon looking for this CD, it was well worth it. This is just excellent Live cut of all their hits, and all around great CD. I was blessed to see them live once and this Cd brings it back. Its really stright pop, but done excellent, alot of energy on this disk. If you never heard them this is the best CD to buy. I remember not really liking their other recorded CD's and this way I bought this live album back in the mid-90's. Can't say enough, grab this CD...it sad the singer killed himself and ended a great band..
