Oh no, not another live organ trio album!
Except this one is different. That's primarily because Chris Foreman on the B-3 is not your run of the mill organ pounder. He plays a tasteful, melodic groove, not the heavy-handed, all too familiar B-3 dirge you hear from so many of his contemporaries. Plus his bandmates follow suit, complementing him with controlled but swinging voicings. This includes guitarist Bobby Broom, who may not be your prototypical top tier guitar technician, but who plays within himself, lyrically and thoughfully, blending in nicely with his bandmates.
What emerges is a tight, melodic performance. The whole effort is enhanced by an appreciative audience that has the good taste to allow the band to do the "talking" and not compete with the grooves.
This is a very enjoyable outing before a very fortunate audience.
