I am an instructional designer and online instructor and have struggled finding great books about online learning with ideas I can implement immediately. Finally I found one! I have recommended it to the faculty I work with, and I can't keep my copy on my bookshelf. I finally bought two more copies (3 total) so that I always have one, even when other faculty are asking to borrow it.

Because of the current push to increase interactivity and engagement in online learning and the fact that discussion boards are still easiest for low-tech faculty to use, this book is timely and essential. I can't recommend it enough!

This book includes tons of protocols that can be used by K-12 teachers to college instructors to corporate trainers. There are real-life examples included in the text, and the step-by-step format provided for the protocols make them easy to implement. The best part about the protocols featured is that they can be used in any learning situation regardless of the content being covered.

Have really just browsed the book so far, but I think it is a very helpful presentation of an important topic. How do we provide the same quality of instruction online? This book is more theoretical than not, but theory is a necessary aspect of all educational improvement.
