Biking the Black Hills
Biking enthusiasts will argue that there is nothing in the world like the wind in their hair and the unobstructed landscape stretched out before them. This episode of Going Places follows two groups of bikers along their scenic, backraods routes from Seattle and Minneapolis to Sturgis, South Dakota, for the world's largest biker rally, an annual even since 1938. The Seattle route travels past Mt. Rainier, Washington, to Virginia City, Montana, for a stop at "The Bail of Hay Saloon", the historic bar seen in the movies Little Big Man and Lonesome dove. From Minneapolis, the travelers pass through the Minnesota River Valley and the prairies of Badlands, South Dakota, visiting Mt. Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Monument on the way.
