The Wild West
Although many may think that the scenic plains and rough terrain of the American frontier are a thing of the past, many travelers, both domestic and foreign, can attest that the legendary traditions are alive and well in the "wild west." This episode of Going Places allows viewers to become real cowboys at The Wilderness Trails Guest Ranch, a working dude ranch in Durango, Colo. Additionally, the program looks at popular summer activities in Colorado; rides the rails on an historic steam engine; explores the ancient Native American cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde; visits with western movie actor and John Wayne sidekick, Harry Corry, Jr.; and participates in an authentic western cattle drive at The Small Cattle Company Ranch in Dubois, Idaho.
