I was very impressed with this book. It was a very moving and strong story of the 3rd class passengers on the Titanic, the people who are often overlooked in the disaster. I would recommend this book to anybody interested in the story of the Titanic and it's people.

This is an indepth and moving story of Elin and Pekka Hakkarainen, third class passengers on the ill fated Titanic. "I'm going to see what has happened" are the last words Pekka ever spoke to his wife Elin on that fateful night.

I recently obtained a signed copy of this manuscript. How enlightening, a true treasure. Elin Hakkarainen's story is fascinating to me. She speaks of the happiness of that time in her life, the niceties of Titanic's 3rd class accommodations, the music and dancing, the horrific and haunting sorrow of losing her husband that night, and her gratefulness to the people and organizations who helped her afterward. She even remembered the name of the steward who helped her find her way to the boat deck to be rescued. I first knew of her when I attended the Titanic Artifact Exhibit two years ago and was given her "passport". I had been so curious about her ever since. The stories of Titanic's 3rd Class passengers are indeed rare, and the authors here (including her son) provide her wonderful personal details, photographs and photocopies of supporting documents. I'm proud to have this in my Titanic collection.
