My 1 1/2 year old loves it,
By A Customer
This review is from: Going to Sleep on the Farm (Hardcover)
To my 1 1/2 year old son, this is the "daddy" book. This might be due to my resemblance to the daddy in the book or our nightly ritual of reading the "daddy" book. But whatever the reason, one "daddy" looks forward to this nightly event. As we turn the page to the animal going to sleep, he boldly proclaims the animal's call. As we turn the page back to the daddy and his son, he resoundingly pronouces "daddy" then reviews the sounds for the animals on the adjacent page. Some day he will be too old for this book and that will make one "daddy" very sad

The perfect bedtime story.,

This review is from: Going to Sleep on the Farm (Hardcover)
A sleepy little boy puts his farm animals away, asking how each one goes to sleep. His patient father explains how each animal goes to sleep. Then, father asks his son how HE goes to sleep... and puts him to bed. My 3 year old loves this book, and shows me how HE goes to sleep. Perfect ending for tucking in for the night!

An absolute must have book,

This review is from: Going to Sleep on the Farm (Hardcover)
This book is so gently written -- perfect for bedtime reading. The illustrations are so detailed you find something new everytime you read it. My toddler son has to have this book read to him every night before he goes to sleep. I beg the publisher to reprint this book so others may enjoy it as well. Perfect for fathers and sons!

Great Children's Book with Beautiful Illustrations,

This review is from: Going to Sleep on the Farm (Hardcover)
This is one of our family's favorite books. We have a son and have found it difficult to find father/son stories. This one does. A father and son playing together at the end of the day talk together about the animalson the farm. Not only is it an ideal book for teaching children about animals, but it also has unusually beautiful illustrations.

My 2 year son loves this book. I often read it many times before bed. For me, it is the illustrations that make it so captivating. The colors are soft and pictures vivid. I love the different viewpoints of the farm. My son finds something new to point out each time we read it.

The best illustrations!,

This review is from: Going to Sleep on the Farm (Hardcover)
The story-line in this book is so tangible and I love reading it to my son, but the illustrations are what compelled me to write a review. I get lost in this farm and its colors at sunset and twilight. The details on the animals are incredible. It is just a beautiful book. I've memorized the story so I can study the illustrations! Makes me feel like a kid again.

Adopted as a nightly reader,
This review is from: Going to Sleep on the Farm (Hardcover)
My daughter is almost 3 years old (just a few weeks away!) and she adopted this book as her favorite bedtime story over a year ago. She and I have read it almost every night just before bedtime--to the point that she memorized the entire book. She knows it word by word and sounds adorable reading it as well. I am investing in another because our pages have become a bit battered by the many uses (including one page that she accidentally tore many months ago.) At the very beginning where it shows the sun setting on the farm and the animals heading toward their sleep areas, we would talk about what they were doing and how they got ready for bed (just like we do.) At the very end of the book (after the story ends) the last picture is the same farm in the moonlight and we talk about the few creatures that stay awake at night and list all of the animals and people who have gone to bed for a good night's rest (just like we do.)

I am so sad to see that this book is no longer in print. The pictures are sweet, and the repetitive "How does a _____ go to sleep, tell me how? How does a ____ go to sleep?" is perfect for lulling the littles to sleep.
