I found the book to be very informative regarding the events of WWII yet a pleasure to read.
The story kept me captive to where I could not put it down before I had completed the book. And, the ending was perfect."

WW2 Vet tells an engaging tale,

I met Chuck at a recent book signing at Barne's and Noble and he and I exchanged books. I started reading his tale on Sunday and was finished with it today, Tuesday. I kept picking the book up wanting to know what was ahead. There's a lot of details in this book without being overwhelming. Chuck keeps the story flowing and keeps you turning that "next page".
Only someone who was there could have written this story in such detail. I was completely immersed in the book and entertained by his writing style. This book gets a big thumbs up as a WW2 spy thriller.

Based on a real person - a Great Novel of WWII,

There are some stories that feel real because the author has taken the roots and foundation of a real person's life to hang their creative words and imagination on. Such is the case for "The Gold Buckle" which makes a story a little better than real life but very believable as a novel. Author C. E. Gibb has enhanced a tale and made it a gripping adventure story. There is something for all readers to like about his war story. There are spies, heroes, bad guys like Hitler, war, questions of loyalty and honor, romance, failed marriages and suspense.
The reader begins to understand the questions about complex nature of loyalty as we take our American born German who is swept up into having to wear the uniform of one country while spying for the other. He wins respect from both countries; but "how" and "why" are what makes this a most unusual story. Gibb uses good phrasing and a realistic dialog. His writing style is easy to follow and understand and he keeps you guess what is going to happen. Over-all, this is a good war novel to read; one that is certainly very different then the blood and gore genre of WWII books. This is an intelligent man's war novel. A book well worth reading!

"I sat down to read this book on a Sunday afternoon expecting to read only a portion of the book to see if I would like it since it is a war time story. I could not put it down. I finished it early in the evening! The story moved along at a quick pace and I learned about World War II events along the way that were vivid and interesting. This is a real human story. I definitely recommend everyone reads this book.

The Gold Buckle,

This was a book I had to finish reading before I turned the light out. Do to his fathers service to Hitler, this young American could serve his country, the USA, from within the WW-2 German Army. He had access to some of the top German government officials and also highly classified documents that he was able to supply to the U.S.
The fact that the Girl and love story was real and not congenered up for the book is also great stuff. Dr. Chuck Gibb was able to turn a true life experience into a great novel. I highly recommend it!! Admiral Richard K. Maughlin, Ret.

C. E. Gibb has written a terrific novel that will mesmerize the reader from start to finish. World War II historians will appreciate the honest portrail painted by Dr. Gibb of a young German-American SS Officer torn between the country he loves and a country he "defends". It is almost impossible to put down.
