Short, but sweet,

Creedence Gold might not have all the best known songs by Creedence Clearwater Revival, but it does have their biggest hits such as "I Heard It Through The Grapevine," "Proud Mary," and "Down On The Corner." If you're familiar with CCR's hits, you should recognize all the songs. This might not be the definitive CCR hits collection, but for what it is, it's great. If you like CCR, but you only like a few of their songs and would like to have just them instead of 20 of their songs, I would recommend getting Creedence Gold. However, if you're a major fan of CCR, get their Chronicle of their 20 greatest hits.

Don't have alot of time to listen to music, so this collection of some "classic" CCR songs is great for me!

A Great album of their songs....,
By Matt Tawesson (Macomb, IL, USA) - See all my reviews

This album by Creedence Clearwater Revival contains 8 of their well known songs. I have read reviews that this title either does not have enough of their songs or that it is not worth getting. I really don't believe that, but I know that this is a good CD for someone who is just starting to discover their music (some people say that this is a starter title). The songs are excellent. From the opening track, "Proud Mary" to the closing track, "Suzie Q", these eight songs are good for the new CCR fan. I love all of the songs on this album. Their version of "I Heard it Through the Grapevine" is a wonderful track, with John Fogerty's vocals during the first 2-3 (?) minutes, and then the rest is instrumental, the entire song clocking in at barely over 11 minutes, while "Born on the Bayou" clocks in at barely over 5 minutes and the final track, "Suzie Q", clocking in at barely more than 8 1/2 minutes. This may not be a thorough album title, but it is OK for new fans to get as a sampler. For those of you who want a wider variety of their songs, go ahead and check out the Chronicle CDs, Volume 1 and/or 2.

Short Sampler,

This is a small sample of what CCR had to offer back in the 60's and early 70's. Chronicle, Vol. 1 would be your best choice since it contains all their Top 10 hits. One benefit this has over Chronicle Vol. 1 is that it includes Born On The Bayou and the long version of Suzie Q.

Why?,
By
This review is from: Gold (Audio CD)
Why was this particular album released on CD? I bought the vinyl record when it first came out and I thought it was skimpy then. With so many more thorough compilations out there, why release this one as is, with nothing extra? I can't complain about the music, which is, for the most part, above reproach. I just don't understand the need for this.

This is a fantastic compilation and definately satisfies the Creedence thirst if you're in for just the hits. The only problem with this one is that Creedence Gold should have been with all the hits on this record. But all in all, it's still a fantastic compilation full of hot Creedence tunes. A definite must for all Creedence fans.

A boring mini short CCR collection here!,

A disapointed collection to you short attention Creedence hardcore music fans. Take my advice I recommend the more anticipated Chronicle: Volume One The 20 Greatest Hits album it will rule and also feature more bluegrass, rhythm & blues to hard rock'n roll as well. Besides their is only 8 song tracks included here in this disc!

I realized my music collection was missing something. No Creedence except on an occasional soundtrack (Forrest Gump comes to mind). This album took care of that.

Creedence Clearwater Revivals !st greatest hits Compilation,

This Cd has many of the best recordings of CCR and along with
more Creedence Gold is an essential part of any fan's collection. One recording that is missing from this CD that should obviously be on one or the other is " Green River ", but these are two of the best rock and roll CDs in existence as far as I'm concerned. |
