Piggy bank is made of the standard stuff. My order came to a little over 13 dollers. no biggie I got money to blow right? Well after I pulled my cat statue out of the overly protective packaging I noticed that the 2 square drawings were only pasties. Thats an immediate downgrade 13 bucks for a staue with stick ons? What has the world come to these days. The statue is made in Japan though so that is one major plus. Future buyers may also like to know that the coins do not remove easily from the bank. There is a removable green felt pad on the bottom to help reduce scratching while covering the large coin release hole. I have not tried to pry the felt off the bottom yet, as I will most likely nullify it's status as a statue. Note that while the coin opening is sizable it does not fit half dollars.

I love this Maneki Neko! It's not made of cheap synthetic plastic which makes it more valuable and the fact it's made in Japan (its origin) is so authentic! I love the gold coloring and the symbolism on Maneki Neko. The only thing I'd like to see are Maneki Neko's that are taller! This isn't the only one, most I've seen online are < 4in. I like ones that are at least 5 inches and still made of the same material. :D All around awesome product!
