Having spent a few nights in the Gold Club, one with a college coach and a couple of NBA players, I had to read this book for a bit of nostalgia. This book is about the Gold Club as seen through this lady and about the life of Ms. Bush. But I'm not sure she is capable of giving anything but a very narrow viewpoint.

Ms. Bush describes herself as the top dancer and most beautiful woman that everyone falls in love with. Well, from the looks of the picture, she was not one of the most beautiful. Evidently she had a good relationship with the owner and began to use this trump card as she openly challenged the local manager. The book is all about her and how everyone loved or hated her. And of course, she didn't perform any sex acts but she knew who to include from the other dancers if that was needed. As it relates to the Gold Club and the legal proceedings, this book does not offer compelling evidence of guilt although written from a lady with minimal educational training, it's difficult to know what she is trying to convey other than, "I'm the Greatest". She does however manage to drop some names, athletes and other assorted celebrities, which will satisfy some readers.

In addition to detail of the Gold Club, Ms. Bush thought we would be interested in her life story. It's not only not interesting, it's depressing and helps to document what many people view as a stripper stereotype. Her mother is a drug addict. Father is a womanizing wife beater. She marries young and has kids. Leaves her husband after he becomes a womanizing wife-beater and then must take care of her kids on her own. She drifts into stripping and the rest is history.

This is not a literary masterpiece. And frankly, it's not a good retelling of the fascinating history of the Gold Club. It's an opportunity for Ms. Bush to retell her story and have her 15 minutes of fame and I guess I have no problem with that. But you probably shouldn't waste your money on it unless you have some specific interest in the Gold Club or Ms. Bush.

I got this book to get the inside deal on the trial, etc. However what I got was a book telling me how wonderful, beautiful, honest, and what a wonderful friend and mother this woman was. I have never read a book by someone that is so in love with themself.

I personally got a little nauseated at her descriptions of how much everyone was in love with her. When she says how beautiful everyone thought she was I am sure it was due to the drinks they had. I kept looking at her picture. Beautiful? Not in this day of Jenna and the rest.

Anyone can get a book published these days as long as there's sex and famous people to rat on. Bush twisted the story around to make out like she was really such a goody 2 shoes in a business where sleaze rules.

I bought this book because I knew some of the people involved in the GOLD CLUB. The book lacks professionalism throughout. Yes I realize that DIVA was not well educated but it looks like someone could have put this book together better. I guess I just expected more. I can not imagine the book holding the interest of anyone outside of the Atlanta area where we saw so much about the Gold Club on the news. To sum up this book in one word.......SLEAZE.

Although I have not read the entire contents of this book I read enough for it to give me a pounding headache because it is indeed very painful to read. Who published this book? Jerry Springer Publishers.

Being an exotic dancer myself and a very intellegent one at that I was embarassed that the stripper community has been so badly misrepresented by Ghetto Queen.

This book is not only badly written, it is a big joke. This book has very little value. I would not even use it for a coaster.

2.0 out of 5 stars "FALSE ADVERTISEMENT", December 29, 2003

This review is from: The Gold Club the Jacklyn "Diva" Bush Story: How I Went from Gold Room to Court Room (Paperback)
WHEN I READ THE BACK COVER OF THE BOOK IT SAID THE READER WOULD FIND OUT ABOUT THE OCCURENCES OF PROFESSIONAL BALLPLAYERS ACTORS AND POLITICIANS INSIDE THE GOLD CLUB. BUT WHEN I READ THE BOOK I QUICKLY LEARNED THAT SHE KEEPS ALL OF THESE PEOPLE NAMELESS EXCEPT FOR HERSELF AND FORMER GOLD CLUB EMPLOYEES. AND WHEN A CELEBRITY DOES ENTER THE CLUB SHE REFERS TO THEM AS A BIG SPENDER WITHOUT EVEN GIVING YOU A DECENT CLUE WHO THEY ARE. I KNOW THAT PEOPLE READING THIS BOOK ARENT NEARLY AS INTERESTED IN FINDING OUT ABOUT JACKLYN "DIVA" BUSH AS THEY ARE IN THE CELEBRITY ESCAPADES THAT WENT ON IN THE CLUB. BE CAREFULL BECAUSE THIS BOOK ISNT GONNA TELL YOU ANYTHING AS FAR AS THATS CONCERNED.

3.0 out of 5 stars Name dropping, comma splices, and sentence fragments, March 10, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Gold Club the Jacklyn "Diva" Bush Story: How I Went from Gold Room to Court Room (Paperback)
This book is a fast and easy read that details the life of 'Diva' Bush and the role she played in the Gold Club. The stories of professional atheletes and celebrities alone are worth the price of this book but what I found most interesting was Diva's account of an 'entertainer's' day to day life. The book is very poorly written complete with sentence fragments, comma splices, mixed metaphors, poor grammar, etc. - but then, Ms. Bush never claimed to have a Ph. D. in English. Overall, it's a very interesting and entertaining book.

The good = Easy read and some intersting stories. I was amazed how Ms. Bush could remember such details as how much money customers spent and what she was wearing when she was with them.
The bad = I don't think an editor read over the manuscipt before sending it to the printers because the book is full of spelling errors, sentence fragments and just terrible grammar.
Ms. Bush names several athletes as "friends" then proceeds to mispell their names. How friendly can you be if you can't even spell their name correctly ?
The book jumped around too much from chapter to chapter. It started off in the beginning then jumped to 1996 then back to her days as a teenager then to 1998 then to when she had kids then her bad marriage. It didn't flow at all and followed no timetable which, was confusing.
All in all, I'm glad to know that things have worked out and she has survived all the hardships in her life. God Bless.

Atlanta, Georgia- As the saying goes, "don't every try to save a stripper" and Jacklyn Bush shares her story in The Gold Club: The Jacklyn Diva Bush Story: How I Went From Gold Room to Court Room.
A self proclaim "diva" which doubled as her stage name, this Midwestern girl came down south to the big lights and big city of Atlanta.
After a series of events she ended up working in the infamous Gold Club in Atlanta. More than just a bunch of naked dancing girls, strip clubs are an oasis for men seeking solitude from the daily grind. Theses beautiful goddesses listen, laugh at their jokes, and for a price will give them a dance.
Steve Kaplan instituted the culture that created at the time one of the nations most profitable clubs.
As in most good things it soon came to a crashing end as the Feds swooped in with a host of allegations.
What makes this book so enticing is that you get the behind the scene look of what really happens in the Champagne room.
A fun read that will forever change your view of the strip club world.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Judge not, lest ye be judged" - (Sermon on the Mount), March 3, 2003
This review is from: The Gold Club the Jacklyn "Diva" Bush Story: How I Went from Gold Room to Court Room (Paperback)
Jacklyn Bush is not only a DIVA, she is a survivor, and to me, Gold Club is about survival. Although she suffered abuse and neglect, and witnessed more sordid events in her childhood than most people see or hear about in a lifetime, the path she followed was not one of her choosing. She was destined to follow it. In spite of all her trials and tribulations, Jacklyn Bush has emerged a winner with the capacity to forgive.

This is an inside look at the players and the trial that only someone who was there would know about, but being an entertainer at the Gold Club was just a small part of her life. Before you jump to conclusions from the publicity surrounding this woman, I recommend that you read Gold Club. Her life should not be summed up as being an entertainer. Jacklyn Bush is truly a survivor.
