Biography

Unquestionably one of the greatest American rock bands ever, Creedence Clearwater Revival will best be remembered for their unique bayou sound popularized in songs like "Proud Mary" and "Green River."

Although their music evoked the raw, gospel-tinged sound of the rural South, Doug Clifford, Stu Cook, and Tom and John Fogerty actually hailed from El Cerrito, ... Read more in Amazon's Creedence Clearwater Revival Store

Format:Audio CD
Don't have alot of time to listen to music, so this collection of some "classic" CCR songs is great for me!

5.0 out of 5 stars CCR Gold is an excellent album on vinyl March 22, 2013
By me
Format:Vinyl|Verified Purchase
There is something to be said when it comes to "old school"...I have many different formats of music in my collection, When compact discs came out 25+ years ago, I sold all of my vinyl records and switched everything to CD. Recently, I have missed the older formats such as cassettes, reel to reel, 8 track tapes and of course albums (33 1/3)....Creedence Gold is the most recent purchase I have made...and I realized how clear the sound is and always have been! I am well pleased with this album! I highly recommend this album! I particularly am pleased with the full versions of "Heard it through the grapevine" and "Suzie Q"

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great album of their songs.... December 23, 2005
Format:Audio CD
This album by Creedence Clearwater Revival contains 8 of their well known songs. I have read reviews that this title either does not have enough of their songs or that it is not worth getting. I really don't believe that, but I know that this is a good CD for someone who is just starting to discover their music (some people say that this is a starter title). The songs are excellent. From the opening track, "Proud Mary" to the closing track, "Suzie Q", these eight songs are good for the new CCR fan. I love all of the songs on this album. Their version of "I Heard it Through the Grapevine" is a wonderful track, with John Fogerty's vocals during the first 2-3 (?) minutes, and then the rest is instrumental, the entire song clocking in at barely over 11 minutes, while "Born on the Bayou" clocks in at barely over 5 minutes and the final track, "Suzie Q", clocking in at barely more than 8 1/2 minutes. This may not be a thorough album title, but it is OK for new fans to get as a sampler. For those of you who want a wider variety of their songs, go ahead and check out the Chronicle CDs, Volume 1 and/or 2.

3.0 out of 5 stars Short Sampler August 4, 2001
Format:Audio CD
This is a small sample of what CCR had to offer back in the 60's and early 70's. Chronicle, Vol. 1 would be your best choice since it contains all their Top 10 hits. One benefit this has over Chronicle Vol. 1 is that it includes Born On The Bayou and the long version of Suzie Q.

4.0 out of 5 stars Why? January 15, 2009
Format:Audio CD
Why was this particular album released on CD? I bought the vinyl record when it first came out and I thought it was skimpy then. With so many more thorough compilations out there, why release this one as is, with nothing extra? I can't complain about the music, which is, for the most part, above reproach. I just don't understand the need for this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Compilation September 7, 2005
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is a fantastic compilation and definately satisfies the Creedence thirst if you're in for just the hits. The only problem with this one is that Creedence Gold should have been with all the hits on this record. But all in all, it's still a fantastic compilation full of hot Creedence tunes. A definite must for all Creedence fans.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's okay, but, find original vinyl albums if you can February 1, 2013
Format:Audio Cassette|Verified Purchase
It's okay, but, find original LP vinyl albums if you can, as you get more great songs that have not been played as much. For example, "it came out of the sky" is never on any greatest hits album that I have ever seen, but, it is a great song on the cassette album "Willy and the poor boys"

Love it! Been a big fan of CCR for decades and have some of their music but always wanted the long version of Suzie Q, well, now I do! Thanks Amazon and thanks to the seller for getting it over to me in ample time. Rock on!

5.0 out of 5 stars All the CCR hits I wanted
I realized my music collection was missing something. No Creedence except on an occasional soundtrack (Forrest Gump comes to mind). This album took care of that.

5.0 out of 5 stars This was the first LP I ever purchased!
Yup, I remember walking to a store called "Budget Records and Tapes" and buying this as an LP for about $3.98, which is a lot when you make $15.00 a month delivering papers. Read more
