Rich, sets out to save the masses. Kick that broke joke to the curb! It's time to set your sights a lot higher. So ladies, grab a pen and a notepad because Ivana is here to show you how to get that Money Man and live the life you've always dreamed.

Chock-full of valuable information, THE GOLD DIGGER'S GUIDE is a comical must-have for any woman aiming for the luxurious life. First, Ivana breaks down the phrase "gold digger" and gives us a little history. After properly educating us and encouraging us to not be afraid or embarrassed about having high standards, Ivana sets some guidelines. The one I like the most is, "Always marry for love." No matter how much money he has or how much you need, don't get married based solely on material things. Okay, after the guidelines, Mrs. B. Rich gives us a little test to help determine what kind of diva we are, what kind of Money Man we need, where to find him, and how to act in our new life after the wedding. Finally, she talks about vacation spots, throwing parties and socials, recipes to please your guests, where to shop, and legal matters (like prenuptial agreements). The recurrent theme throughout the entire book is simply this: know your worth and don't be ashamed to expect and only settle for the best.

When I first picked up THE GOLD DIGGER'S GUIDE my insides groaned. "Oh no, not another get-the-man book." However, I am not ashamed to admit I was totally wrong about this book, and was pleasantly surprised at what I found inside the cover. Although the title might sound shady, Ivana B. Rich has not written a text on how to scam, but instead on how to be graceful, poised, and prepared. She educates women on how to act the part and, in essence, fake it until you make it. She advises us to spend time doing things that matter, take care of our bodies, educate our minds, and not to try and trap a man. Ivana's voice flows steadily and confidently throughout the book as she uses humorous stereotypes, case studies, stories, and real-life examples to illustrate her advice. While I did enjoy THE GOLD DIGGER'S GUIDE, it has more info on how to live properly in the lap of luxury than how to get the man. Most of the stories and advice are for after meeting and/or marrying the Money Man. However, the information presented here is still relevant and good to have as it lets readers know that it is okay to set high standards. You are worth it!

This is written by an African American women and geared toward African American women, but it can still be applied to anyone. Not a big deal; but I thought it was odd that it wasn't mentioned in the books description.

I admit I have most of the books like this on the market. This is the only one that suggests marrying someone for love that happens to have money. In my opinion the best are:

How to join the club of the Rich and Famous by Valentina Artsrunik and How to Marry Money by Susan Wright. These are best if you want to marry SUPER rich.

I just finished this book and rushed online to write a review because I loved it soooo much! It is true I originally judged the book by its cover and by its title only, and oh! how wrong I was. It is funny because I read the review below and thought that I originally believed the book was going to be everything the reviewer below thought. After reading the book, however, I must say that my mind was changed, and it is a little too obvious that the reviewer below didnt actually read the book (she indicates that it is "probably" like the other books) Anyway, while the title is a little obnoxious sounding the author breaks it down and gives new insight into the term goldigger. The book has an bonus dimension in that it is really too funny. The author also gives sound advice about how "not" to depend on a man and that women should get an education so that they can take care of themselves economically. She offers practical advice on how women should take care of themselves for themselves and she discusses pre-nuptial agreements and offers that women should always marry for love. She also breaks down the different levels of wealth and does not limit her discussion to "old money" as the reviwer below seems to suggest. In doing so she charts out access points for anyone interested in moving up the social ladder. She provides little quizzes in the book so that people can determine which level of the social or economic ladder they want to move up to, recognizing that "rich" is as the individual perceives it because some find happiness below the levels others would consider wealthy. The author also points out that women must take inventory of themselves and truly understand the type of man who will make us happy, because not all will be made happy by the extremely rich, some will only find happiness with those who reside somewhere in the middle. To that end she provides insight on social events and vacation spots where we can find the type of man we are looking for, because Lord knows some of us do tend to look for Mr. Right in all the wrong places.
Over all this is a wonderful book for those of us looking to be inspired and looking to believe in ourselves and our ability to find and attract mates who will make us happy not just because they have money but because they makes us happy in a variety of ways. It is a very funny and useful guide. Thank you Ivanna! And as for the other reviewer, I don't know what book she read, but it sounds nothing like the one I read.

This book was so good I had everyone I know (even men) taking the quiz to see what type of gold-digger they were. I love the fact that Rich kept it real and let 'em know that you have to use your personality as well as appearance to get and keep a worthy man. I also love that she broke it down for you depending on your quiz results and catered to the scene that you might feel most comfortable on. Although some of the ideas and stories in the book feel a little unrealistic and the constant preaching about true love will have skeptics like me sucking their teeth, she does sound loyal to the idea of self love and holding out for the highest bidder on your heart. This book if perfect for those curious about gold-digging, but a little shy of life in the fast lane.

I finished this book in one setting. I bought it Friday, and it held my interest for the couple of hours that I read it. Yes, it has it humor, but I can relate to the advice given here. You have so many that want to marry up, but don't have skills or what have you to do so. I recommend it to all those looking for that special someone.

This book was so boring I really did not learn anything the book was full or errors. I fell asleep on this one please don't write anymore books.

I was disappointed with this book. Based on the content of the book, if you have not snagged a man with money while in college, you have missed your opportunity. This book really does not give much input on how an entry level professional would marry up. Secondly, it does not help if you are out of the circle trying to get in. The author makes it obvious that she came from a background with money so it was much easier for her to attract a man with money because she is already in the circle. However there is no advice given to those who are trying to marry up. I would recommend this book to maybe college freshman but not for anyone else. It is a waste of time. I am glad I did not pay full price.

I like the way Rich makes herself into some kind of paragon of good taste, drawing the curtains of wealth over a shady past. "Ivana B. Rich" is a cute pun for a gold-digger's name, but it shows that she (if it is a "she") is slightly ashamed of having written this book and feels pressure to use a pseudonym. Hmmm, I wonder where the pressure comes from. Possibly from her soul within?

However it is not for us to judge why people write the books they do. I have found this book useful myself, even though I am neither a woman nor an African-American. Nor do I have the sort of money it would take for readers of THE GOLD DIGGER'S GUIDE to identify me as a suitable target for their campaign. And yet, when all is said and done, it is a fabulously entertaining read with real thought for the community. For example, Rich advocates spending your husband's money on social projects--not just "socialite projects"--but things that will help improve the living standard of all, not just you.

It's a book that advocates having respect for yourself, and yet the author gives herself not even the respect of using her real name for this spicy read. You wouldn't want to have this book lying open on the coffee table when your date comes up in his town car to pick you up, nor would you want it to fall out of your bag accidentally during intimate moments. Not even exposed on your bookshelf, for it would betray your mercenary nature to the one man you're trying to fool. Even if he is one whom you love.

It;s an entertaining book, but it can be pointed out that Kevin Doyle and John T. Molloy have written books on this subject and both of those authors seem to share the opinion that the universal qualities men look for in a mate are accomplishment and morality, notwithstanding all female efforts to be sexually alluring or socially superior.

I was pretty pleasantly surprised that this isn't a sleazy "reality show" based book on how to be a gold digger. The book is actually based on how to find a quality man, with various different income levels. The ideas she gives for meeting and dating men of means are pretty good and the stories are entertaining. However I thought she really just glossed over how does a woman improve herself so that she's able to attract and keep a man. Many women don't really have a clue on how to successfully date a man. This book probably won't help much with that.
