I saw this item in a catalog for substantially more money, was very intrigued and searched for a lower price. I was still a bit hesitant and skeptical about spending this much on such a silly thing, but figured I could send it back if it disappointed... In any case, it arrived today and I'm so pleased. The music is pleasant and the sound quality is good. There is a volume control and you can select Christmas carols or everyday songs. The lights on the stage add a nice ambiance. It's made of plastic but does look very intricate and not cheap. It is a hoot to add/remove bears from the stage to change the composition of players and parts. The smile hasn't left my face since I first turned it on. It has been playing for probably 20 minutes now without any repeats of the carols. My only gripes are technical - the chin rest is on the wrong side of the violin, the keys of the flute are misdirected, and the cello endpin doesn't reach the floor. It seems like the creators could have taken more care in assuring accuracy in these details, but overall this is a splendid little thing. Worth every penny! :)

I was originally looking for a good office-type decoration (read: non-denominational, non-religious, non-anything that can be "offensive" to anyone).I found this rather innocent yet festive item here on Amazon and quite frankly now that it has arrived, it is quite impressive. Pros: So as my title mentions the "musical chairs" part of this product, depending on which bear+instrument that is currently up on stage (not the lower orchestra section) that will determine what sounds will play. Very cool! If you were wondering what instrument plays when no bears are up on stage, only the piano part plays. This product has volume control, which is something that I notice not all products of this type will have. Cons: The construction is all plastic which feels a little on the cheap side considering the $100+ price tag. I assumed that this would have an AC adapter. Unfortunately, that does not come with the product and instead must be purchased separately. So 4 AA batteries need to be used if you just buy this. Final thoughts: All in all, I am very pleased with finding something that I can decorate my office with that looks nice and has an unique, interesting surprise!

The quality of this musical is beautiful and although it is made of plastic, it almost looks like it is ceramic. The music is beautiful too, the only thing I don't like is that nothing moves and musical boxes in general should!
