While this album is certainly derivative of a well-known 4 piece combo from Liverpool, the songs are SO good that comparisons are rendered superfluous. Immaculately written, played, produced AND thoroughly contemporary. Each songs is a gem with hooks and choruses that will stay with you long after the album is over.

A good friend of mine turned me on to Mikal's music a few weeks ago, and I just ordered this CD up and got it in the mail yesterday. I highly recommend all other humans do the same immediately. Crazy great.

I grew up listening to the Beatles so when i heard this CD for a second I thought this was the new Paul Mccartney CD. It certainly is Beatlesque but more importantly, these are just great pop/rock songs that are well played and well produced. It's obvious that Mikal wears his influences on his sleeve but still creates amazingly infectious and likeable pop music on par with say, Matthew Sweet, Crowded House, and many others. Highly recommended for fans of Brit pop, power pop, and singer songwriter stuff.

Mikal Blue has a heart of gold. Rarely do musicians of his caliber match thier playing ability with lyrics of profound depth. His layered production reflects his early infatuation with the Beatles and the influence of the great George Martin. Layers of strings and synth add an ethereal quality to his music which is rare in todays pop culture. Check him out and your mind will decompress into bliss!

Now that have have had this CD for a few weeks I can say it is a must buy. These songs just grow on you. Mikal is very talented and his voice is perfect for this music. I think this CD or download will be more than "Gold"

The lyrics are heart felt and draw you in. Excellent!!!
