I enjoy this band a lot. The music is easy going with fresh messages. IT is definitely worth checking out!

I am an avid fan of Tooth And Nail Records, as they have produced music for some of my favorite bands of all time. For those of you who don't know, Tooth And Nail is kind of an underground label that typically handles hard rock, punk, and the occasional electronica record. So imagine my surprise when I heard they were producing a country artist.

Now, let's things straight--I'm not what you would call a fan of country music. .Being that I live in the south, I've grown up hearing it all my life, and I find a great deal of it to be painfully unoriginal. But I figured if Tooth And Nail was willing to give Corey Crowder a chance, then I would do the same.

I was surprised by how much I loved the first track, Southern Way. It was catchy, well-produced, and captured a sort of youthful innocence you don't hear much in modern country. It was by far my favorite number from Gold And The Sand. Other songs like Love, Changes, Devils, and Lonesome Road also fare well, but another surprising twist keeps this record from being truly good. Occasionally, Corey swaps his palette from delightful southern ballads to something I have been told is "glam rock." It's an odd sort of jam that doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the record... but thankfully it only happens two or three times on the album. And it's not bad, just remarkably disruptive to the more traditional tone.

All in all, if you are a fan of country and have stumbled across this little-known artist, I recommend picking up Gold And The Sand. It isn't perfection, but it's an enjoyable introduction to a talented up-and-coming singer.

Saw them play recently. I had never heard of them and enjoyed the set. I ended up buying 2 CD's and this was one of them. He did say that he writes a lot of songs for his wife, which is pretty evident on his CD's. I usually like my music a little more up tempo, but I really do enjoy this CD (he played a rockin version of a Muddy Waters song live). Give this a try. He seemed like a nice guy that enjoys what he does.

I enjoyed the different styles of music. Most of the time I enjoy very thoughtful lyrics but this was too ambiguous. It was difficult to understand the motivation of some of the lyrics. I think he was aiming for irony and leaves the listener wandering if he is promoting something un-biblical.
