This title describes William to a "T": gold in the shadow. A musician worth his weight in gold but overshadowed by the cheap, dime-a-dozen, mogul backed artists of the day. His music is simple and honest. His voice is soft, soothing, and powerful in it's meekness. His lyrics resonate with me and I could listen to his creations over and over without tiring. I'm so glad I found this gold in the shadow. Buy this album. You won't be disappointed.
William Fitzsimmons music is beautiful. I prefer his bonus acoustic disc compared to the main album cd though. I am more of a folk purist I guess. He has a wonderful voice and is deft at playing the guitar as well. Also the lyrics are well thought out and contain deep meaning. If you love folk music buy this record.
Great CD! Be sure to get the Deluxe Version, for all the extra music - well worth it! Very mellow, beautiful new folky singer-songwriter material with great songs and performance. Music that you can either focus on or just drift away in a musical reverie . . .
Once again Fitzsimmons has made an album of beautiful songs. I like the more fleshed-out production touches on this record too. I bought the record for my wife, who loves it, but I am listening to it just as much. Fitz is one of America's true rising stars, and if you haven't seen him live, make sure you do. He is a brilliant showman, excellent acoustic guitarist and all round entertaining performer. We first saw him live in SF a few years ago and were instant fans. His opening act Rosi Golan was fantastic too. Be sure to check her out. Meanwhile, thanks Billy Fitz for the soulful songwriting.
