5.0 out of 5 stars Not A Single Bad Track May 3, 2011
Format:MP3 Music
You know how it goes: you buy a CD for a song or two that you enjoy & skip past the ones that never seem to grow on you. Well, that isn't going to happen here. This is one helluva good album. Every track pulls the listener into Fitzsimmons' world; spellbound and hanging onto every whispered word. It is at once calming and exciting, normal and extraordinary, pained and peaceful, haunted and hopeful. I cannot say enough good about this album. (I got mine via iTunes to get the bonus tracks. Blood and Bones (a bonus) is worth the jaunt away from Amazon for a moment.)

5.0 out of 5 stars It could be a mess, but it's great April 1, 2011
By Nobody
Format:Audio CD
This type of self-centered confessional music could be an absolute disaster, but in the hands of the prolific William Fitzsimmons, you can forget about the meaning of it all and just enjoy the music, which is engaging, pleasant and light, with wonderful touches throughout. For one thing, you can't hear the lyrics clearly unless you try, he sings in a soft breathy manner that hides the content. "Tide" charms you right off the bat, it would be like Kristin Hirsch made an album as a man, but less urgently than she is as a woman, and every song thereafter maintains the groove, spare, harmonious, lovely. Four albums in a relatively short period of time and he finds nice hooks in every song? This man has music inside of him, by all means check it out, a very accomplished album, a seamless and shimmering listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Brilliant! December 7, 2011
Format:Vinyl
William Fitzsimmons is underrated and relatively unknown but bound to be a cult figure much like Nick Drake. He has crafted an amazing sound all of his own, much like Sufjan Stevens or Alexi Murdoch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking, as always July 18, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Any recognition, praise or accolade directed at William Fitzsimmons is more than deserved, and probably not nearly enough. The soul-bearing, heart-pouring nature of the lyrics and emotion with which Mr. Fitzsimmons delivers them is nothing short of breathtaking. Every album he's released has been a building progression toward perfection, and his first CD was a masterpiece in itself. Do yourself a favor; buy this CD and the others in his collection of releases, go see him play live (I prefer the intimate setting of him and his guitar), then be amazed. William Fitzsimmons is a wonderful talent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gold in the Songs October 31, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Once again Fitzsimmons has made an album of beautiful songs. I like the more fleshed-out production touches on this record too. I bought the record for my wife, who loves it, but I am listening to it just as much. Fitz is one of America's true rising stars, and if you haven't seen him live, make sure you do. He is a brilliant showman, excellent acoustic guitarist and all round entertaining performer. We first saw him live in SF a few years ago and were instant fans. His opening act Rosi Golan was fantastic too. Be sure to check her out. Meanwhile, thanks Billy Fitz for the soulful songwriting.
