This review is from: Gold Tone GM-6 Octave Mandolin (Maple) (Electronics)
Properly speaking it's an octave guitar (an octave higher than standard guitar tuning) with a mandolin body. Well made, even and smooth sides to the frets, sounds good.String tension is high, but this possibly is one of the sources of the proper tone. Doesn't sound exactly like a mandolin but it's in the infield -- well more than in the ballpark. For guitarists it's a play-right-now instrument which is fun. If, like me, your hands are kinda large for a real mandolin it will take a little practice, but it rewards the effort.

I purchased this GM-6 Mandolin after hearing it played on the Gold Tone website. I am very happy with it. I can't figure out why there aren't any other six string mandolins being made by other companies.
