There's more than gold found in the Glory Hole. Readers of Gold in Trib 1 may well find what Doug and Hagen found in their search for gold. There are miners and there are prospectors. Not all prospectors are miners, but all miners are prospectors. -- Dit Werner, Gold Miner
In 1967 Doug negotiated a move to Canada and joined the company's team of Field Service Representatives traveling to a variety of places in North and South America. In 1976 business brought him to Alaska and he was smitten by the beauty and wildness. He subsequently took up residence in 1977.
Doug earned his wings in 1980, purchased his own plane, and followed other interesting hobbies: hiking, fishing, skiing, aerobics, country dancing, and, Yes! gold prospecting. The result is Gold in Trib 1.
Doug works as an independent consultant and lives in Anchorage, Alaska with Jennifer, his wife of 10 years.

Found it very hard to stay with the book and get it finished. The author spent so much time talking about having breakfast and getting prepaired i didnt care if i finished the book. One chapter actually talked about finding gold, but only to not tell you what they found. What good is a book about gold prospecting if there isnt any find?

Gold in Trib 1 review,

This review is from: Gold in Trib 1: Flying, Hiking and Gold Prospecting - Adventure in Wild Present-Day Alaska (Paperback)
I found this book to be a quick and enjoyable adventure. As a pilot and aircraft owner, like the author, and one who has flown in the same country that the story takes place, I would have been critical of obvious errors in his use of terms and place names. This was not a problem however. I like flying/adventure books and this one fit that catagory well. The author tended to go into a little too much detail about his social life and seemed to mention eating in resturaunts, including what was ordered, a little too much. Some authors would have included the entire contents of this book into one or two chapters of a longer book. However, I think anyone who enjoys adventure in Alaska, flying, or gold prospecting would enjoy the book, as I did. It is well written and some of the author's roots in England seem to come through in his writing style.
