I am a newbie. While I've worked in construction for a few years, drywall is not my trade. So I figured that I may destroy a tool or two in the process. Still, I didn't want to buy a cheap piece of crap. I tried buying a tool from an unnamed but huge nation-wide hardware store, and it actually broke within 2 minutes of use.

NOT THIS. The handle was very comfortable, the construction seemed to be of good quality. No complaints with that. I did manage to cause this to rust despite my efforts otherwise (cleaned it vigorously with soap and water after each use, left it to drip dry). I attribute that to me being essentially a layperson in drywall.

The widened edges seemed to help inhibit run-off from the edge, meaning I had to bend over less to retrieve blobs of joint compound from the floor.

I had a six inch blue steel blade for over 25 years and beat the living daylights out of it. I mean I didn't oil it, scraped it with steel wool at times and it kept on going. I never got a spot of rust in all that time. At last the rust came on one job and it broke at the handle connecting the steel. I checked and did some research around and this product came up high marks. So I gave it a try.

It works like a charm. I did have to get use to the flex which was a lot lighter then my old beast. Real soft to the touch. It took about a couple of hours and it was like a part of my arm just like my old one.

Very comfortable grip in palm. You don't get the hand tiredness. Every little time I would have to stop working with my old one because it had a plastic injected handle and flex my hand muscle. With this I don't get that. My friends laugh at me me because I have a grip that looks like I am using a ping pong paddle but it works for me. It is especially nice now that the arthritis is kicking in.

The flared out ends are really nice but take a bit to get use to if you have been using a straight blade like I have been, but with change there is always adjustment.

Give it a try it should fit you.

I'm adding a bedroom to the basement and used this for a lot of the drywall taping and finishing. This is my first attempt at doing drywall so I'm not a professional by any means. It seemed to work fine but after a couple hours of use, it starts to rust and turn the mud orange. Maybe that's typical for a drywall knife, but it was kinda disappointing.

Excellent quality. You can tell that this is a professional tool the minute you see it. I would definitely buy it again.
